placing all objects of a folder

hi all,

for administrative reasons we have to place all objects of a folder as simple/fast as possible in a model (about 2500 objects). best way would be drag n drop gsm from folder into AC - that does not work but visualizes best what we are looking for work flow - wise.

thanks for any hint.

I believe special menu has a command to place all objects from loaded library. (activate special menu in registry/plist and then add it to Your work environment)

Best Regards,
Piotr
yes - you are right! the thing is that ALL objects get imported. just hoped for a way to "filter" the object. thanks

Drag and drop works but only for one object at a time.

If the command in the special menu works then unload all library and just load the folder you want as the only library.
Then use the special menu command again and then re-load all your original libraries.

It will also place objects from the built-in Archicad libraries.
I don't see a way to exclude these.

But if you browse through the subtype hierarchy tree (Model Elements most likely) you should see all of the objects listed in green.
You may be able to select these easily enough and only those you select will be placed.

If you need to do this for multiple files then do it once and copy and paste from one file to another.

thank you for the description of the workflow!

other option i was thinking of was using the search and find tool. all objects in the folder have a unique text entry in the keyword field: "vv"; problem is i cant find that field as property to filter for. do you have any idea hnt for that approach?

thanks a lot!

The 'Place all Objects' command can only filter by object subtype which probably is not going to help you.

You can search your library by keywords when placing objects, but again this will only allow you to place one object at a time.

I am 99.9% sure that you can't schedule keywords of objects.
If you could then you could place all and set up a schedule to select those with a particular keyword.
But if all these objects have a unique library part parameter you may be able to set up a schedule the searches only for these objects.
Then you could select those and delete all the other unwanted objects or maybe select those that don't have that parameter and delete them?

no unique thing in parameters

other option that could lead to the final goal: is there a way to get the preview images out of the gsm saved as jpg files?

As far as I know - only individually, object by object.
Open the script, open the preview and 'Save as'.
But that is not to say it could not be done on mass somehow - I just don't know how.

Yes, you can use the lp_xmlconverter tool.
