AC 17 Building Materials

Erich

I am just starting to create a template for the new AC 17 and am now attempting to wrap my head around the building material attribute. Does any one have a clever idea or best practice for organizing this new attribute?

While it seems to fix a number of things and is quite powerful, it also seems like it could get unwieldy quickly if not well managed.

I am hoping the community (at least the beta testers) might have some good information to be shared.

Thank you Laz, this is exactly what i am saying.
I think it could be resolved by mitring the skins at the corner rather than stepping the join (or just making sure the overriding skin of both walls carries through to the corner.

Hopefully this is resolved quickly, probably won't be updating until it is.
How are people currently working in AC 17 with the issue present?

I got info from Graphisoft that they have entered this issue into the bug database.

I am just facing the same problem – working on six houses, its constructions (building materials of the walls) are the same and the only difference is the color of the exterior skin. As I am preparing a model for rendering, I tried to override just the material of the outer skin – and the corner are badly connected in 3D... I don't want to define six different building materials or composite walls just because of the color of the plaster on the final renderings...
Hope this bug will be resolved soon...

On more problem, - when a material within a composite is transparent, the whole wall becomes transparent from that layer / material

All I could find out is that they are working on it and it is part of a larger issue.

Any news on this issue? Currently giving me a lot of problems.
It's been a long time since A17 was released, one would think this would have been fixed by now.

If not, how are users working around it?
