ArchiCAD 11 Hotfix (build 1086)

Dear ArchiCAD-Talkers,

We have released Hotfix 1086 for ArchiCAD 11. It applies to Commercial, Trial and Educational licenses, and is currently available for INT and USA language versions. To download the Hotfix, please use "Check for updates..." command in Help menu.

Before installing the Hotfix, please take a moment to read the Release Notes!

Files with hotlinked modules may open unusually slow for the first time, as a result of a critical bugfix. This is normal, and happens at the first opening. After saving such a file, you might notice that the file gets significantly smaller.

A note for Grid Tool users: This Hotfix is a must-have for Grid Tool users. It fixes several functionality bugs, as well as some frequent crashes.

Unfortunately, the Plot Setup dialog needs to be re-set after applying the Hotfix.

Until today, after resetting the setting (I actually remembered:) all has been well, but today I went to plot, and it is back to the default.. so I am having to set it up again?

Ah.. just remembered my computer shut down on it's own over the weekend (I need a new UPS).. so maybe since AC was open and had not been close, it wasn't saved?

The article also describes how to recover the settings, in case you don't remember the settings.

Is there something missing in the posted addresses (see below for PPC)? They seem to be the same thing? I did find a new (I think) file at library/Safe Preferences/com.graphisoft.AC 11.0.0 USA v1.plist

Since the post above, it was just the plotter that had changed back to Calcomp, from Hewlett-Packard... all the rest was still there (roll size, spool etc.
To address the problem described above, from build 1086 ArchiCAD 11 saves the Plotter.prf file in a different location:

MAC PPC: Plotter.prf at Users/username/Library/Preferences/Graphisoft/AC 11.0.0 INT v1/

This ensures that different ArchiCAD versions will not overwrite each others' settings in the future. As a side effect, however, after installing the build 1086 Hotfix, you have to set up the plotter once again. Alternatively, you can copy the Plotter.prf file from:

MAC PPC: ...Preferences/Graphisoft to ...Preferences/Graphisoft/AC 11.0.0 INT v1/

Victor, are you on Mac PPC/ Intel MAC or PC? What language version?

(It is a good idea to include this information in your signature)
sorry for the missing information, I working in a pc, windows XP,
but I just fix my problem by reinstall the hot fix after download it to my pc; (before I run it directly from the Web site-I'm not sure if that was the problem, but now AC works fine)

Rick,

Are you saying that you set up the plotter in 1086, exit and restart ArchiCAd, and the plotter setting is gone?

The goodies should have a Sept 12 date. Technically speaking, the possible reasons for not updating could be
* they are not inside the ArchiCAD 11 folder
* they were renamed
* file permissions prevented the installer to access the files.

Just once though, it seems fine now. I guess it was from the computer improperly shutting down over the weekend. It wasn't all the settings, just the plot driver that was gone again.

I noticed that if you draw a Polyline in a "clockwise" motion and then edit its length, the line orientation will change to counterclockwise permanently.

This is a problem when using arrow lines, symbol text lines, etc.

Perhaps a "Change Orientation" checkbox in the dialog boxes of polylines, lines, splines, walls, or whatever could modify orientation similar to how the "Mirror" checkbox works for Objects.

At any rate, it seems to be a bug that can screw up your drawings with any need to edit. The bug existed in the last AC11 too and I think it reversed orientation in both cases (clockwise and counter) but I'm not certain.

If you mean the arrowhead stays in the same place but the button showing whether it is at start or finish of line changes, this has been happening since at least AC8.1.

If the arrowhead is actually changing ends, I would suspect that GS has tried to fix this and not quite got it right.

1086 doesn't seem to be available for NZ release yet, and I'm not sure I want it anyway.

I'm talking about the direction of a "line type" not the placement of an arrowhead. As when using the "Arrow" line type or any other symbol line types such as text lines (SS, W, E, etc) this problem becomes evident.

The direction (or flow) of the arrows (or symbol text) of the line type changes. So if you used the arrow line type to show a drainage path, suddenly it'll point in the wrong direction if you change its length.

For instance, draw a multisegment polyline from left to right, then change the length and the arrows will point in the opposite direction and stay that way.
Interestingly, if you draw a single segment polyline, it will flip the line direction back and forth continuously as you change the length of the segment.
