Beams and Columns need to do more...

To the software guys: THANKS! I love version 10. It is wonderful that I can now adjust the angle of beams and columns. I just hope that you software guys can create a patch that would allow me to set beams and columns to have perpindicular cuts in addition to the current standard of plumb or level cuts. I don't feel that I'm asking for too much. Again, I love version 10 and hope you guys can make this functionality possible.

I agree and so do many of the people I've worked with.

And it's the same for walls. Having the perpendicular cut (and being able to dimension to it!) is far more important than the plumb cut when it comes to giving the builder something he can... well... build from!

Cheers,

As I think on it more, it would also be nice to be able to turn on or off the automatic intersections. Sometimes I don't want Archicad to be "figuring out" the joint for me.

Several weeks ago someone else posted on this issue.
please see this thread.

This prompted me to change my "Beam" object to have a Perpendicular
option just like the roof tool which can be used as a substitute for the
beam tool and the wall tool in certain situations.

And yes I agree also that the beam tool should have this capability

Explain. If you can do this, are you changing it in a way that you can continue to use the beam function or does it now because only an object? If you can continue to use the beam function, how did you change it to allow perpendicular cuts?

deivclayton,
Notice I said my Beam object. This is a GDL object I made.
As far as I know there is absolutely no way to change
an Archicad tool element or change the tool itself
unless of course your a Graphisoft programer.
I made the object to get around some of the characteristics
of the beam tool. At the time I made this object
the beam tool could not even make sloped beams

That's what I thought. Can't blame me for hoping though.
