Create opening from Selection does not follow the shape

Achille Pavlidis

Hello,

I have created a curtain wall with a particular shape, and when I select "Create Opening From Selection" the resulting opening does not follow the shape of the Curtain Wall, but instead has a strange shape.

See attached image

Why is this happening?Screenshot 2024-09-24 at 12.56.27.png

Probably because it was made for rectangular or circular mep shaped elements (with an offset)

It is possible to adjust the opening afterwards to fit your curtainwall.

It is not the shape of the object that will form the opening shape.

That can only be circular or rectangular (with that tool), or that first option I believe tries to best match (circular for a circular pipe, rectangular for a rectangular pipe).

As cuba suggested, you will have to reshape the opening after you create it.

Also the create openings tool is really for penetrating objects like pipes.

For the curtain wall like that you could just draw a polygonal opening around the frame.

OK got it.

It's a shame though because the shape with the rectangle and circle makes you think that it is possible to have a complex shape.

I did draw a polygonal opening around the frames, but I was hopping I could save time by automating the process... though luck I guess...
