I'm having an issue with the D1 16 and D2 16 wood doors in complex profile walls. The casings are not going where they should and the frame thicknesses aren't correct. The problem only occurs in a complex profile (i've confirmed it works properly in a composite).
The complex profile wall has 3/4" trim modelled into it that go around the perimeter of the room. The door casing is to match in size to coordinate with the trim. In the complex profile, the opening reference lines are turned on and are in the proper location (the plane of the gypsum board.)
It makes no difference if the door settings are set to solid wall, stud wall, etc.
Please help! Attached is a image of the problem.

The actual and consistent behavior, which is wrong but can be used to correct some of these CP wall door/window problems, is that the door/window "reads" the thickness of the wall at the "anchor" - ignoring the opening reference line location.
So, if you had no trim at the base of your wall, and anchored to the base, then the header horizontal trim would have no affect on the jamb thickness and casing placement and all would be fine in 3D.
Or, if you did not have the horizontal trim board at the door head - in line with the header casing - and anchored the door to its head - the thickness THERE would be read and all would work out OK.
But, what you've done is the idea of why complex profiles were introduced and they just do not work here. You've tried to model your base and your head trim in one profile ... and unfortunately with Graphisoft's terrible implementation of CP walls, neither a base nor a head 'anchor' will detect the thickness of the wall between trim ... and as you've seen, the opening reference lines are ignored as far as calculating the thickness of the wall as intended for openings. (The opening ref line is honored on one side ... but the opposite site is ignored - and thickness is 'read' from the anchor as described.)
This is such an egregious situation, that I've been surprised that very few others have complained about it here on ac-talk ... either they work around it, or don't use CP walls I suppose. Your example is the kind of thing that GS should use in marketing CP walls...and yet it doesn't work.
So, your only workaround for now is to model either the base or head trim as a separate element (beam/etc), manually cutting it at openings.
Please complain to your reseller and tech support so that maybe one day fixing this gets some priority.
Sorry,
Karl

The other thing which I didn't mention and assume is related, is the two lines shown in the door opening that don't belong there. Similarly, they're drawn out at the outer edges of the CP; i.e. the trim.
I was aware this was a problem when CP's first came out, I just supposed it had been corrected. I'll forward this on to Graphisoft US and hopefully some resolution will come of it. This is disappointing as many of our 150+ interior elevations look funny because of this door issue.

The 2D lines still show though.

Update: your post clued me in to a simple workaround. You're absolutely correct that the anchor point is controlling the positioning of the door and casing. In the complex profile I simply raised the baseboard trim off of the floor by 1/4" and the 3D display works perfectly. (note: I probably could have simply raised it 0.00001 mm and go the same result.)
Cheers,
Karl

Jere wrote:Gotcha. Try changing your wall display to 'cut only'.
In the image above, you see two lines in the door opening on the symbolic floor plan view. All of my doors in complex profiles are showing these lines. They disappear in a composite.

Thanks You help me a lot. It's true is a awfull situation. To avoid this we can use the railing tool And create de Baseboard and the Trim and make this associative to the wall
