No More Power PC Support

I suppose this is common knowledge, but according to a GS press release Power PC will no longer be supported beyond 2009 (or I believe version 12).

While this makes sense the way hardware is moving, it does makes life a little harder for us PPC users. As it is, AC 11 runs very slowly on my dual G4 and dual G5. Disabling auto rebuild etc, helps, but for the moment I have gone back to AC 10.

Had I know 11 would be so slow I would have waited to upgrade.

Does it run faster on the PC side?

This is what I want to know before I shell out $4k for software.

Does the latest 3.0 ghz Intel Mac run it acceptably?

Don't worry, Don is having a special problem. AC11 is fast, especially on the Intel Macs. One specific situation slows mine down, though - if I turn on Virtual Trace to a view that has big scanned bitmaps, or pdfs containing such. Otherwise no problem.
Do a search - there are several posts on tthis subject.

I was running AC11 fine on Dual 2.0 G5s (not just me, the 25 users in the company). I still can't figure out what we were doing differently than those who complain about the speed.

Well I did get a list of things to do to from my reseller to speed up AC11 on a non intel Mac. GS also has a list of suggestions. So I am not that "special".

For those who don't have a problem it's usually a "non issue" to them. Intel Macs are a whole other matter.
