Question on "Show Selection/Marquee"

Anyone know of a method or command to go one step back if for example you select 6 objects and then hit F4 or "Show Selection" and then select 3 of those 6 objects and hit F4 or "Show Selection" to go back to the 6 object selection instead of going back to the entire model/"show all"? I.e. is there a technique or menu to go back one selection/isolation step?

Switch back to the floor plan and the original 6 should still be selected.

Then show selection in 3D again.

Alternatively, you could store the selection in the Selections palette.

Great solution for storing particular selections (I always forget about it).

But in 3D you will still have to 'show all' then activate that selection and then 'Show selection' again to bring back your original selection.

Or still switch back to the floor plan, activate selection and show selection in 3D.
