It could be scripted in GDL by extracting the letters one by one and arranging them on a curve. Or, you could take the manual approach and place individual library parts for each letter.
There is no way that I know to simply distort or wrap 3D elements.
If all you need is a flat poster, take a screen shot of the text and apply it as a texture. This will only work for rendered views though.
