Would it be possible to model a railway track with one (or two parallel) segments made by the railing tool?

Now I have watched the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glU67P2bWoI and made some improvements. I have used Archicad 27 EDU Norwegian. It is indeed possible to create a quite advanced and real Railway Line in Terrain with Archicad using a combination of the Line Tool, the Magic Wand, the Railing Tool, the Mesh Tool, Layers, Complex Profiles, SEO with both Upwards Extrusion, Intersection and as a "Stamp", and last but not least 3D Cutaway for smooth ends. All volumes and lengths can be obtained from the model. The Railway Sleepers are not counted automatically as they are made of Balusters in the Railing Tool. But the number of Sleepers can easily be extracted by dividing the track length by the distance between the Sleepers. All angles are here set to 45 degrees, each and every angle can be set separately in the Complex Profile. Pretty satisfied 😊

That's really nice, thanks 😊 But will it be OK draped on a bumpy Mesh?

No idea, you'll need to try it. I don't think that railway tracks are bumpy…

Good to see that even proffesional teachers also get stuck sometimes ^^

it definitely can work on a complex mesh. I think its most important to keep track of where level of detail and level of precision are important. The rail tool is one of those that works great when "close enough" is your end target. And in most conceivable situations, close enough is exactly what I need from this kind of site context. Even for detailed renderings, I don't usually worry if something like a rail road or path or site wall are exactly where they should be, as long as they are believable and get the idea across.
