I tried the Roof Surfacer add-on from the 28 Goodies pack, and it works well with how it associates to existing roofs, many options for types of coverings and so on, it seemed pretty useful. But then I quickly ran into a problem that IMO breaks the whole tool: you can't control the pattern offset to make the seams match across the ridge of the roof. This is basic stuff, you would never design a roof like in the screenshot below.
Attached a screenshot from trying to use this on a normal pitched roof. The pattern doesn't line up with the other side of the roof so it ends up looking just, well, stupid. And to my dismay, there seems to be no option to offset the pattern, like the Profiled steel sheet object in the main AC28 library has (but that object has other shortcomings like no associativity, and no polyline perimeter definition so it's very clunky if you have non-rectangular roof planes). Why develop two objects that do almost the same thing, but none of them gets the job done properly?
I guess that I could split and adjust the "parent" roof to control the positioning, or convert the covering to morph then cut it, but this introduces a lot of extra work in case of changes, for something that could easily be a single offset input in the object.
Graphisoft, I know the Goodies are not officially supported, but this thing should be something Archicad could do out of the box.

It has always been disappointing that they coded the 2D to move based on the roof reference line, but did not mirror that onto the 3D...
If it is just a simple gable, I usually just mirror the generated object. It does mean that one is non-associative, but at least everything lines up.

The 2D fill is based on the reference line but the 3D pattern is based on the extents of the roof shape.
The most left and lowest points of the roof shape are where the pattern begins in 3D.
Why they are not linked or adjustable with a hotspot, I am not sure.
Just bad GDL coding.
