The C:\Program Files\ArchiCAD 8.1\ArchiCAD Library 8.1\ArchiCAD Library 81.pla\Textures 81\Wall Finishes 81\Siding 81\Siding.tif

is a horizontal Siding that has a white Background. How is this color changed. Or how can a Wood Colored Texture be produced?

See Attached (Note: Ive got Board-N-Bat to display with tip from Karl)

Is the Solution soooo Simple that no one is replying?

Or is this like the Board & Batten 3D Texture and can not be readily produced "out-of-the-box".

Jay:
Go to Options>Materials... and select the material you are using. Click on Edit Texture... and under Alpha Channel Effects check Surface (you can add other effects if you wish, but not Transparency). The color that you set under Preview in the Material's dialog box will now show where the texture is white. This color will only appear in the PhotoRendering window, not the 3D window.

Photoshop ... make a new texture image...

Any Chance that the makers of PhotoShop will work in collaboration with Graphisoft to create a "PhotoShop for ArchiCAD". I do not own Photoshop.

It is a shame that with all the power of AC to display the virtual model, that "simple" and what I call common textures are not included. The Open GL Engine is good to work in because of the speed at which we can navigate in 3D, but the texture options seem limited.
It is my opinion that we should not need a separate piece of software to accomplish a presentable siding treatment.

Does anyone know if Photoshop Elements would do this?

Yes. Elements can do most of what most people need. It lacks masking layers and other features that we photoshop nerds could not live without, but that have nothing to do with creating textures. 😉 And it's cheap.

Jay, I hear you, but I don't think it is reasonable for a CAD application to include image processing functions when there are so many things like Elements out there for $50 or less as well as all kinds of web sites with either free textures or textures for sale.

But, I do think that it would make sense for AC to come with a better selection of textures that are at a reasonably high resolution, such as the tiles that Ulises posted in another forum today or yesterday. The images that Graphisoft includes ... and the large library that is available for free download at gdlcentral.com ... work fine for web images and small prints, but do not have enough pixels for medium to large format prints.

Anyway, do at least go to http://www.gdlcentral.com and create a login if you don't have one, and in the Product Catalog on the left, find Building Textures, and download the Textures JPG.

I think version 7 shipped with an anniversary CD that had a number of textures as well. You might see if you can get a copy of that.

Actually, the downloads from gdlcentral are what were on that CD, so they are freely available to everyone. 😉

Sorry I wasn't clear in my post that it was the same content.

I have the same problem; don't have Adobe. I've opened the texture in Paint, which is in accesories in your Windows program. You can change the color there, then save it under a new name. Then make a new material with the new siding color.

It should show up in both photorender and 3d window. If you use the Lightworks in V9, you have to "preview" it with Lightworks before it will show up with that engine.
