SOLVED!

Slope Bottom Rail, Flat/Level Top Rail

I know I am missing something... How can I get the top of a railing to be flat/level, while keeping the bottom of the rail sloping/following a pitch?

Thanks in advance!

It seems that it will only work if the sloping railing is extended in the same line.

If there is no extension or the extension turns at an angle to the loping rail, then it will not work.

So you will need to have a portion of the rail that extends horizontally to begin with.

I also notice that if that extension is not horizontal, then the adjusted rail will not be horizontal either.

It will match the angle of the extended rail.

So it really only works when there is a horizontal, in-line extension to the railing.

I didn't know it could do that.

I always assumed the rail was always parallel to the reference line.

Thanks for the tip.

Thanks cuba!!!

Looks so easy, but when I do the same key/button command I move the entire top rail up, not just the node... Is there an internal setting in the railing which is preventing this?

Thanks again, there's hope!

Wait, what? Hm... apparently this "worked" in AC22, weird things happen, and it has been smoothed out since. Now I just need to be able to curve it vertically. I have been doing seperateTop Rails combined with Morphs this whole time...

It will elevate the entire Top Rail if you go above the top level of the rest. The easiest way seems to to snap the elevation to another node of the Top Rail.

Wow, thanks Barry! Super interesting about the railing being in the same plane... Seems like an odd behavior, but what do I know?! Not much. 🙂

Thanks for all the help everyone!
