I was going to suggest that but thought someone might have a better idea. Well done.

Is your roof a composite? In that case the thickness is a fixed value.

Either:

- redefine the composite

- assign a single material for the roof, so that you cna set the thickness in the dialog box

It is a composite, but my section will end up wronger than usual though with unnacceptably thin rafters. Thanks for the help. SEO solves all.

What I do, and yes it's a pain, but the easiest work around I know how to do.. is generate your roof with the needed composite thickness, say 2x10 rafters. Then split the roof at the outside stud line. Change the eave part you split off to the needed composite/thickness.. say 2x6 roof. Then in section align the top of the roof surface. You can then transfer the new attribute of height to the other eaves with the drug (syringe) tool.

Please go to this link and vote...if you haven't already.

To get around the random changes in roofs , such as trusses, joists, soffits, etc, we took the position of making the roof only be the sheathing, and combine it with a custom fascia/gutter object (which used to be done with beams, but people wanted gutters & sloping capability).

It takes a few extra steps, but creates very accurate plans, sections, and elevations without masking or cleanup.

I voted a while back, hopefully not in vain. Not quite clear on Tom's method. I ended up with SEO slabs as the Profiler soffit did not want to operate.

Maybe this makes a bit more sense (just as an example. I know there is no structure here.)
