Template migration from 10 to 11

Hello, i'm writing this to ask which is the best way to migrate a template created with AC10 to AC11.
The major problem i'm facing is with favorites. All the doors and windows favorites i have created don't work the way they should. What i have done is that i configured all the favorites to match the AC11 library parts, but when i open the template all the doors and windows favorites are dimmed. I have to load the AC10 library to make them active. The strange thing is that once placed on the plan, the doors and windows appear to be AC11 library parts, but when the AC10 library is removed, they appear as "missing" again...
Which is the correct way to do this?

Take a look from the archicad menu:

Help-archicad goodies, then u see a url wich must open ,download the archicad 10 library subset, and export it in tha archicad folder

If with the direct exporting have the same problem, just add this file from the library manager

thank you very much!
i knew i was doing something wrong...

i have one more question... does this mean that will have to use the subset Library in future continuusly?

The downside of that approach is that you will have to load the extra library for every project throughout the life of AC11 (and any projects that survive forward into AC12 and beyond).

The subset libraries are meant to bring individual projects started in an old version forward to a new version, not as an ongoing work method. By using it on a template, you are treating a symptom of a problem without addressing the problem.

You would be better off actually adjusting your favorites for the new library (which you would have to deal with on every single PLN brought forward) or consider switching to a visual favorite method like the one described here: http://www.aecbytes.com/tipsandtricks/2006/issue13-archicad.html

Tom, I think, i gave a simple,fast solution.
Its not my response, to solve the bug-dismissed thinks that graphisoft maybe have in arch11 release.

I can understand, why, every time we try to help someone with something simple and fast, must someone to critisize. So for those Archicad-users in the forum who think are hollywood stars i m saying:

We are not graphisoft, we are users.
We dont live for Archicad, we live WITH that.
We are not programmers, we are Architects
Archicad is one of the best "digital" tool, its not the spirit or the brain of an architect and certainly not the meaning of live

wait, i think everybody here wants to help, and actually my concern about having to load the subset library forever has been confirmed. Simple and fast solutions are great, but since the template will be carried on and used for quite a long time it needs to be free of potential problem-causing issues in the future.
Thanks everybody.

This migration problem is the main reason I don't use Favorites much.

We're not talking about a quick fix for a minor problem. We're talking about someone's company template that will be used for every project for the next year.

You're offering a fast simple solution that will cause ongoing problems for the next year and seem quite content, almost proud, of the problems you create. You're not helping anyone by offering this kind of advice. You're actually offering someone a way to damage their business operations and act like you were a hero for doing so.

I'm trying to provide a more complete solution for someone who actually wants to fix the problem now instead of dealing with headaches in the future..

..........

There was two parts to the question, the 1st one is what I am concerned about:

1. To use the default AC11 template and modify it to my standards or use my AC10 template and modify it a little, I prefer the later (using AC10 temp. & modify) but I am concern that I may bring in some unknown hidden issues from AC10. Any advice would be appreciated.

2. I can not live without the Favorites so I will modify them but how do I delete the grayed out ones?
Thanks,
Joseph

i have spent almost all day today trying to reconfigure the template, and i must confess that i didn't expect it to be such a pain! It is really a cumbersome procedure and there is always something that doesn't work as it should have... the response from my reseller is that this may be caused from the fact that i'm using a file that has been converted from a previous version. In fact when starting from scratch the problems do disappear, but it is impossible for me to start from zero...
I think this is an issue that GS should look at more carefully
