Two story window

I have a big window that is half on the third floor, half on the second floor. Where do I put the window so it cuts out of both floors. Or how else do you handle that situation. Make an empty opening in one of the floors?

Skimmed through here so forgive any duplication!..

I just did this on a house with a HUGE DEN WINDOW... 12' tall...

1. Create 1st Floor Walls to 9-1 (to match other walls and plates (no real magic here).
2. Put the WINDOW in the wall and let it "hang over" the top.
3. Create upper half of wall on the 2nd floor and place the SAME window.
4. Offset sill to match lower window.
5. TURN OFF 3d and 2d (optional)... In my particular case, it was an ARCH TOP WINDOW. Keep in mind that GS did go through the trouble of scripting in the 3d and 2d disable just for this reason.. The WALL HOLE will remain (and match the lower floor, obviously)...
6. I DON'T show the 2d on the upper floor AND I tag the window w/ an asterisk as that is my "filter" for the schedule.

a. I don't like splitting the window in two, as it has potential to screw up the schedule.
b. In most instances I would try to make the 1st floor wall tall enough to accept the entire window then make the 2nd story wall really short. Just doesn't work in all cases for 3d clean-up
c. I need the wall on the 2nd floor to complete the plan anyway (though it is sometimes "hatched" over for graphics).

My 2 pennies,
Duane
