V9.0 elevation re-build time

Has anyone noticed that the time taken to re-biuld an elevation in V9.0 compared to V8.1 has increased?
Or is it just me?

I have tried on two separate machines.
My machine (P4 2.4Ghz, 1GB ram, Nvidia FX5600 (256MB))
Elevation 1 takes 1 min 19 sec in V81 and 1 min 37 sec in V90
Elevation 2 takes 0 min 37 sec in V81 and 0 min 44 sec in V90

Tried it also on a P4 3Ghz with 2GB ram with Nvidia FX5700 (256MB)
Elevation 1 takes 1 min 01 sec in V81 and 1 min 19 sec in V90
Elevation 2 takes 0 min 30 sec in V81 and 0 min 38 sec in V90

So it seems that V90 is about 20% - 30% slower than V81
I have opened exactly the same PLN file in both versions and have the same settings regarding showing the shadows and hatching.

They are fairly complex elevations with shadows, hatching and plenty of tubular balustrades and awning supports so I know they will take a little while to generate - JPG attached.
But according to the promotional hype - V90 is can be more than twice as fast generating sections/elevations.
Obviously not in my case.
Can anyone help with any ideas for different settings I can try?
Thanks,
Barry.

This is straight from the pages of the NEW FEATURES GUIDE on the installation CD.

See the yellow highlighted section.

Would Graphisoft please like to comment on this?
Is this something that will be fixed in an upgrade very soon or are there specific settings I need to make?

This is affecting my decision to upgrade 70 licenses.

I am disappointed with the speed, too.

Just to let those interested know, that Graphisoft have contacted me privately and they are investigating the problem.
I appreciate there willingness to look into this.
Let's hope there is a solution.

Graphisoft said to me that they would address the speed issue in the next update release and it seems they are good to their word.

The latest hotfix for V9.0 to build 1965 has increased the elevation re-gen time to equivalent of V8.1 (or within 1 or 2 seconds of it).

Still not the big improvement that was being touted but at least we are not going backwards.

Thankyou Graphisoft for the hotfix.

On a side note I did notice when re-testing, that using a PLA archive file and reading the library directly from it, dramatically increases the speed at which the elevations re-gen (in both V8.1 and V9.0).
Anything from a 25% -50% increase it seems - depends on the info in the elevation.

Great if you can use an archive library, but ours sits at around 250MB and is constantly being updated.
I can't imagine making a PLA everytime I change something nor can I imagine our 70 users downloading a new 250MB file everyday (some via internet).
As it is we automatically synchronize the library files (only those that have changed) from the server to our PC's, and this takes only a matter of seconds when a machine is started.
Synchronizing a 250MB file every day compared to a few KB will be a nightmare.

So I guess we have to make do with our relatively slower elevation re-gen times.
But if you have the oportunity to use a PLA archive library I would suggest you go for it.

Definitely slower than the previous version!

I also noticed that generating 3d model in OpenGFL mode is several times slower than if using the Internal Engine. Once generated the model rotates easily, but if you add a new door or wail the model has to be regenerated and the long wait starts again.

I thought the problem was I didn't have enough RAM and planned to byu more but it seems others experience the same delays too.

This has to do with your video card; check the drivers! Had the same problem with ATI, solved it by updating drivers.
