Weird orbiting point

Not sure how to explain this one. Normally most of the time, when orbiting it uses where you click your mouse as the reference point for what to orbit around. Here it seems to be swinging way far out, instead of orbiting like normal, almost like it’s orbiting on a different point, or orbiting around the project center almost?

Thanks Barry.  Larger distance between brain and typing fingers the older I get.  Brain somewhere off in space these days 😂

Speaking about space, @ethanbodnar, have you ever tried using a 3D Connexions space mouse for 3D navigation and orbit ? I do and they are very helpful to use.

Please watch this video demonstration by John from Contrabim on how smooth the space mouse work flow is.

I was getting the same problem and, as an alternative to modeling near the origin, i think if you select a convenient object around the area you wanna orbit, this weird orbit chaning point shifts back to normal again. At least i got that result consistently after trying it like 10 times.

I would also suggest that you use worksheets and the Trace function to deal with Sketches. It will give you a better way to organise them than layers, and also avoids placing drawings and not related linework directly in the plans (model space).

For an estate, I would probably centre it on the main entrance to the site. Usually I would centre the project on that, or the front of a key building. On the last large site project we did the site was modelled before any of that was determined, so I just had the origin at the bottom left. Might have been better to centre the whole lot. I think it was around 1km from the furthest end of the site, and I do not recall having any issues with panning, though this was a few years ago...
