Window Question

In the Window Selection Settings window, under the category Floor Plan and Section ...

What does Enable Object's Linetypes and Enable Object's Pens mean? Also, when they say "symbol", are they talking about the window label or the floor plan drawing of the window?

Because I'm working on a historic structure, I would like for the window representation in plan to communicate the character of that window.

OK I'm sorry your reseller has that attitude. There should be better sources, but I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic...
The Help files are quite good though. And there is a lot to find on the Internet.

Maybe I'm the one on the wrong side of the Atlantic?

Stella,
If you put your city and state in your signature you might get some offers or suggestions for trainers in your area.

I've yet to hear of a reseller in this country that doesn't have a network or trainers to supplement there own efforts.

Does anyone have advice/thoughts on which way to go? I've been using the parameters (objects linetypes and pens) but realistically, I would probably be happy with just the one pen as set under 'floor plan & section'
I would say that if one pen color and one linetype is enough, then you should uncheck the Enable Object's Pens and Enable Object's Linetypes checkboxes and specify the pen and linetype you wish to use in the Floor Plan and Section panel.
In case you need more than one pen color/linetype, then check the corresponding checkbox and specify the pen/linetype of those component parts of the Window (or other Object) in the Parameters panel.
That's about all I can say about it in this regard.

I want to focus on your other wish:

What do you mean? It can be shown in plans scaled to 1:20 or 1:10 but I cannot imagine it with 1:50 and 1:100! Is it a CAD problem or a drawing problem? Could you do it if you were drawing by hand?

Right now I'm working at 1/4" and 1/8", and yes, it could be shown by hand.

My reseller does not provide intro training. It's very frustrating to me and I really can't afford any more sessions @ $100/hr.
Hi Stella,

As a US reseller, I am making the assumption that you are hopefully mistaken about this. Every reseller is required to give introductory training with new purchases of ArchiCAD. Once that has been used, every reseller I know would give introductory training for an hourly fee.

Are you saying that introductory level training is FLAT OUT not available, or only available for a fee (after the initial training that comes with the purchase has been used). If that is the case, then it is only fair to charge for it.

Please PM me and let me know who your reseller is. I'm sure it's a misunderstanding and we can certainly help you!
