dimesions become unattached

I find that often I will move a window or a wall and the associate dimension that I thought was linked to it does not move. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I think you click at wrong point when you put your dimensionline at your model.
An associate dim. got a circle when you click with your mouse, the other got a rectangle. So, if you got a rectangle, you have clicked at wrong point.

You can check the "association" by holding your cursor over the intersection of the witness line & Dimension string". The witness line will become highlighted. Push the shift key (on a mac) and it should highlight the associated object/point.

With a complex project I set a "layer combo" with walls only showing and the relevant dim layer to ensure correct associative dimensions.
Learned the hard way when a dim was picked off a fill or object or the like that was moved/deleted.

Don't forget to use the Tab key to select the item you want to dimension when there are several items in the same location. Especially with walls at corners.

You want to make sure your dimension is attached to the wall that corresponding to the diminsion chain you are placing (horizontal or virtical).

Also, watch out for your reference drawings. You may not want that on while you are adding dimensions.

Steve, This is possibly one of the two or three most productive improvements for me in AC 10 and I just wanted to highlight and repeat it.
