locking walls to a certain floor

Like the subject says, is it possible to somehow Lock for instance a wall or a slab to a certain floor? The issue I'm having, is that I create some walls, say a rectangle, linked to a certain floor. But then I need to lower the base of one wall, say, 50cm, though keeping the height the same. But when I lower the wall, it pops Down to the floor beneath. The height is correct, but it disappears from the floor plan of the original story, and resurfaces on the story below.

Up til now I have adjusted it back to the storie its supposed to be on manually, but is it a way to prevent that from happening in the first Place?

This was a situation introduced with AC17 but what you need to do is edit the wall height and change it from "Elevation" to the floor you want. After doing this all new walls , slabs, etc. will default to the story in which they were created and if you move them Up or Down they will stay there.

If you need to change them from one story to another you will need to use the "Relink to Story" command.
