module appearance

I've just created an as-built plan to import as a module into a separate file in while I'll create the proposed plan. When I did so, it came in as what appears to be a reflected ceiling plan (all one pen, no doors or windows).

I've checked layers, model views, etc. and can't figure out what's happening. I opened the module directly and it looks exactly as expected.

It's probably something simple, but I don't see anything in the manual either. Any ideas?

A guess: Check your floor plan cut plane level.

thanks for the cut plane suggestion - that wasn't it, but it did make me think to check where it was vertically and sure enough it was set one story (10') up. What I don't understand is why.

When I imported it, the dialog box set it at -10', which I changed to 0 and then I chose to match the first floor with the first floor. Logically I thought that that would place the first floor of the module on the first floor of the new file and that the base of walls would be at 0. But instead it all came in 10' higher.

So just now I re-inserted it and left it at -10' and it came in just as it should on the first floor. ???
I am pretty sure it is a bug in the US setup (it could also be awful interface, if there is some preference setting hidden somewhere that I missed). It obviously has to do with the US vs International/Hungarian floor numbering conventions, and the module settings dialog box displaying half-baked math it should be handling internally instead. Because say your US Story 2 is Int Story 1, when you place a module on your US Story 2 your home story elevation is -StoryHeight relative to Int Story 2 --which is what your dialog box displays by default. So if you use your Place Module dialog box for defining the module elevation (as opposed to inserting in floor plan and then elevating in the 3D window or dragging up/down in a S/E window) you need to do the math and subtract StoryHeight from whatever height you want.

Happens with US story 1 and above only, US and int conventions are the same for below-ground.

I guess that explains it - what a mess, though for what should be a pretty simple operation.

Everything worked fine for years until 9. In 10 they rebuilt the whole program from scratch and this problem popped up and never got fixed.

The Present Problem that i am having and i hope someone can assist me. some of the counters with sinks will show up throughout the drawing while your working on it and even when you print directly from the page layout but when a publisher set is created some not all of the sinks in the cabinets disappear in the pdf file I have tried bringing elements to front.

the cabinets are in a mod file which is in a hotlink. Could this be causing the phantom sinks.

Thanks Brent

Are the sinks elliptical? If so, your issue is probably related to the one in this thread: http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=33341&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0
