modules

I'm exploring modules for the first time in AC11. I created a module file and placed it into my blank document. I then used the multiply tool to make several copies of the module while elevating them at the same time.

When I go to edit the module, I re-save the file, and then go to the Hotlink manager and update the module. It updates the model fine, but the elevation data for each copy gets removed and the models go to 0' elevation, which effectively "flattens" my model.

Shouldn't the hotlinked modules remember their placed heights in the new file?

Imagine I am creating a custom tread for a set of stairs. Once the tread model gets updated, the treads all flatten out to a constant elevation. Please help!

Or is there a solution other that placing Module at a negative Dimension to stroy placed in.
I am having no problems even with vertically staggered modules, maybe it relates to the fact that my walls are all symbolic.

The USA module-insertion-height-for-stories-1-and-above bug hasn't been fixed, at least until 1086. http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=17878&highlight=module

Well, I am running the 1086 patch
But still having issues with the modules on different stories.
Walls seem to place correctly. but objects are moving to the next story up.
Here is something I posted in this thread:

Thanks to Dave Tauer at GSUS techsupport and the guys in Budapest for the solution to this. It was happening to me and they were on it. Here's the fix:

1) Start from scratch by deleting your modules
2) Re-HotLink your modules
3) Drag, mirror, rotate, elevate into position

...BUT...

4) MOST IMPORTANTLY--Do not undo at ANY time during the process. If you mess up, fix it by conventional means. Just don't ever undo during the module positioning process. That seems to be the catalyst for the shifts. Once I did the method here, they have stayed put.

I too am having issues with hotlinks. I've followed Rex's suggestions, but this doesn't seem to work.
When I place hotlinked files I can see objects, zones and fills, but the walls don't show up. when I look at the 3D window the walls appear but are placed on a different story in the model. Even the objects, zones and fills seem to be on the second story even though they appear on the first story.

After reading the posts in this forum it seems that many other people have been having similar issues. Has anyone else found a solution here?

OK, you're having a different problem than the one my previous post addresses... One of two things are probably happening...

1) Your cut plane is too high and the walls are not showing since they are most likely set to "cut." So, check your active cut plane as well as the ones assigned in your views to make sure that they are all in sync.
2) Sometimes the story setting is set to using the "height to next." If you have one story and this is checked, it can cause problems. I usually uncheck it for my site plan (only one story) and for the uppermost floor in my files with multiple stories. You'll see sometimes when linking a PLN or MOD that it will want to place a negative elevation. This is why. The result is that it places the module at an odd elevation causing it (once again) to be out of sync with the cut plane.

I too am having a problem with modules showing up at the top of the story height instead of at the floor starting height. (which would be 0 for a one story building, which this is). I believe the check box adjacent to the story settings refers to the level lines showing up on the S/E windows. Is this what you are refering to in this comment?
