I keep my project CAD files in a single folder per project, and yesterday noticed this new and unusual file. I seem to recall deleting scratch files previously but not sure, and certainly not without hesitation if of this size. It doesn't appear in any of my other project folders. I have been doing a fair amount of SEO actions of late[?] but that's all I can think of that is unusual. Tempted to delete it but before I do I thought perhaps someone might know of it's "purpose"............

It shouldn't be there, and you can trash it. They seem to turn up every once in a while, I believe it's a glitch in a Save process. I trash them whenever I see them, no harmful side effects AFAIK.

every time archicas saves it creates a scratch file first. I could be wrong but then does something like this; When all is hunky dory it changes the name of your file to the backup and the scratch to the name of your file. ( deleteing the bakup in the process.)
I have found during a faulty save process the scratch can get left.
Did you crash during a save process?
I think it is better now but there was a time scratch files where created in the cache folder and never deleted, resulting in a gigabyte sized folder.
On mac look in library/cache/graphisoft/AC v8 etc and you might find a few too many scratch files which can be happily deleted.

Thats it! I knew I had seen these folders before, just not in this location. And yes they can get amazingly huge! Don't know why but I really have a distaste for useless files floating around and try to stay ahead of that. And yes it did crash. Thanks John!
