question concerning a a curved diamond shaped covering

I am having trouble creating a covering which is basically a diamond shape with points connecting to columns. The problem i am having is creating a curve into this shape from point to point. I have read many posts concerning the mesh tool and copying it and to seo it from itself.

I think im in the right track...i made a diamond shaped mesh and took a bent rafter and elongated it to span the diamond shape and adjusted the radius to get the curve i wanted. Then i placed it into the mesh and used SEO with upward extrusion...then copied it moved it 2 feet down and seo with downward extrusion....now i have the shape i want in the mesh but if i move the rafters the mesh reforms to a solid block...am i going about this wrong and wasting my time? is there an easier way?
any feedback would really help thanks

The idea was taken from the Hotel Kempinski/Munich Airport Center.

Is there anyway I can run to parallel beams spaced apart...and inbetween them, cross curved beams at there center. Repeating this side by side would give me my frame but i need to make that diamond shape solid and shaped to the curved of the beam.

My impression is that you are trying to make a tent structure
but I may be wrong.
If you could post an image of what you want to model, it would help.
I am unclear as to why you need the bent rafter.

here is a plan view and 3d view. In the plan i want to continue that diamond shape across the span of the rectangle polyline.

3d view of what i tried..

In the 3D view, are there four meshes, two tan ones and two brown ones ?
The angle of view makes it difficult to tell the shape of the tan meshes.
I don't see the beams unless what seems to be sandwiched between
the tan meshes is the beam. It is clear that your not making a tent
structure but some kind of vault structure but I am still having some
trouble visualizing the final shape.
What is the dark brown form that seems to be sitting on the ground
underneath the vault ?

sorry that was a bad approach to start it...in the plan view you can see that diamond shape...if that is repeated side by side i would have these criss crossing beams that would be curved...creating a frame work for the diamond mesh i was trying to create in the 3d view you saw...

what im trying to do is create a curved beam which i can rotate at 45 degree angles and then mirror it and rotate it at 45 degree angles again creating intersections at the midpoint...

What would be the best way to approach this...
and once i need to apply a mesh to these beams..how would it look in section...would i have to pick the skirt option so it doesnt show up as mesh...or mesh to roof it?

my main question now is if i create a polyline of a beam in plan with the curve i want and magic wand it, it shows up in 3d flat to the horizontal plane, how can i make it perpindicular so its along the vertical plane

I don't quite follow what you are trying to acheive with your damond shapes, but for the rafters follow this thread to make your object, then insert it and it will be vertical.

Ok i read the thread and sort of understood it....

can you tell me if im doing the right procedure...
i create a curved polyline relative tot he curved beam i want...then i magic wand it with the beam tool highlighted...then in 3d rotate the view until i am directly above it(it would be on the vertical plane now)....save it as a .gsm file...then from there im not too familiar with what should be done next when opening the new file...
