question concerning a a curved diamond shaped covering

I am having trouble creating a covering which is basically a diamond shape with points connecting to columns. The problem i am having is creating a curve into this shape from point to point. I have read many posts concerning the mesh tool and copying it and to seo it from itself.

I think im in the right track...i made a diamond shaped mesh and took a bent rafter and elongated it to span the diamond shape and adjusted the radius to get the curve i wanted. Then i placed it into the mesh and used SEO with upward extrusion...then copied it moved it 2 feet down and seo with downward extrusion....now i have the shape i want in the mesh but if i move the rafters the mesh reforms to a solid block...am i going about this wrong and wasting my time? is there an easier way?
any feedback would really help thanks

The idea was taken from the Hotel Kempinski/Munich Airport Center.

Create the beam that is curved in XZ plane using TrussMaker.
TrussMaker works on center lines and will trace arcs as short
straight segments the resolution of which is controlled, I believe,
by the magic wand settings.
You will have to make two types of beams, one that is full length
the other a half length minus one half the beam width so that
the the intersection is not interpenetrating and show up as blank
in section.

I am unsure what you mean by "would i have to pick the skirt option so it doesnt show up as mesh".

As I understand what you want, you create the system of intersecting beams
then the solid mesh shell is placed on top of the beam system.
You would therefor want the mesh to be solid.

So you make the mesh, de-elevate a copy, SEO the underside of the
first mesh with the second one, then hide the second one.
Since it is very difficult to make the resolution of the beams
match the resolution of the under side of the mesh,
the final step is to SEO the beams from the mesh using
either addition or subtraction so it looks correct in section.

I amend what I said about having to make two types of beams.
It looks OK in section using a pair of full length beams that
intersect each other and one is added or subtracted from the other.

so far so good with the beams...im about to move the whole frame structure as one library object to the project im working on...i really appreciate the help..hopefully i wont have too many problems with the mesh but ill let you know....thanks again

actually i made the whole frame structure in a seperate files...grouped them...saved them as a library object. now i tried copy/paste to my project and it does paste but in 3d it doesnst show up...then i tried saving it as a .gsm and it was successful...but then i reloaded my library with that object and it doesnt show up......i also tried open the specific object from the file/library/open object selection and the gdl box opens but it doesnt show anything 2d full view/3d view/preview picture etc. box....what is the best way to bring it into my project...or were some of the parameters wrong causing a faulty import into my project file...

if u could please help me out with a little more explanatory direction for the mesh operation...sorry but its my first semester learning and applying archicad to my final presentation and i am running out of time to spend too much time figuring it out...attachted is a image of the frame....i need to figure out a mesh that fits into the diamond shapes...that fits into the web of the w beam

Looks good so far.
I have another idea. Instead of using a mesh to infill
between the beams, you could use Profiler or TrussMaker to make
a barrel vault that goes the length of the frame system,
set it to the correct elevation and position, and then
subtract the the beam system from the barrel vault.
This should work and I don't think it presents any 2D problems.
What do you think ?

Hey i really appreciate the help...im only a few months into this but im gettin there...i got the barrel vault on the frame....but the SEO is not working...beams as operator...and vault as target....is it because the beam doesnt entirely intersect the roof....i just want to keep the diamond portion of the roof....the left over triangular wedges need to go...here is a picture...can u tell what i am doing wrong or do u need another image

Use the barrel vault roof. Yes, it will be segmented.

Trim the roof to the first pair of beams (it is grouped, so select it, ungroup, trim, show the beam side/centerline, done). Grouping on again, drag a copy, trim the other side so you get the diamond. Multiply, mirror, etc. Group all the roofs.

Should do it.
