Re: in section window the whole drawing disappears.
i had an archicad 8.0 teamwork file. which is quite big in size but i had some big files like that before and never had this problem.
after working on section, in few section windows the stuff i drew disappears. when i open the section window everything appears for one half second and then disappears even with show all layers command.
if anyone know anything about this please keep me posted.
thanks
i also upgraded to 8.1 and this problem actually appears to be in 8.1 file

it sounds as though you have a huge fill over the whole lot whose colour is the same as your background.

show all layers, select all and then zoom to selection. is there a fill showing up around the drawing area?

thanks for replying. but thats not the problem. i can not select anything. the window comes out just as a blank window with origin marker. even with all layers shown and everything on. it shows up for a fraction of a section and boom.... disappears. i tried zooming out and select all command and trying to select with my cursor crossing. nothing, like its not there at all.

Looks like nothing is in the window.

Did you:

- zoom to fit - there might be sopmething floating very, very far away
- recreate the section
- check the sectiion settings (depth etc)

?

thanks djordje
yes i have already tried and checked everything. nothing happens. i had stuff from the model and i had all other things drawn like linework and fills and text and everything. and it shows up for a fraction of second and disappears. i dont know its very frustrating to loose all that work.

Any chance you have something that is normally on a hidden layer that the section is being cut through.

I once had some tall walls that I was using as operator elements for SEO that normally were hidden and had turned on all layers to check something and then regenerated a section which was buried within one of the walls. Took a while to figure out why the blank screen.

Small possibility.

thanks ted,
but unfortunately thats not it. the section line is not cutting through any elements that are hidden. i know the drawing is in there but it disappears after a fraction of section. i checked on all the options on that section too.

What happens if you go to the arrow tool and select all? Turn on and unlock all layers and select all?

tried everything. but there is nothing to select. ctrl+A, selecting with arrow tool. show, unlock all layers. as if nothing is there in that window.
i know its there cause it shows up for a fraction of a second.
and it happened in few section windows. so i know that i have not erased all by mistake. tried changing background colour and everything.

Dave,

It may be a long shot, but you could: Save As... to a new file name; save in 8.0 or even 7.0 format and open in the earlier versions; share the project and resave as a solo file.

If you link the views into PlotMaker, does anything show up?
