walls on different stories don't join

I have composite walls on different stories that don't join. so i have some balloon framed walls that bridge two stories that meet another wall that is only on the second story and they don't join. i can make them join, but then the two walls on the lower story aren't joined. is there a way to work around this? i have core only selected in the structural display.

Do you have your walls that bridge two stories set to show on all relevant stories?

In that case they should join.

What you could try is to draw both walls on the same story and give the second wall a bottom and top offset so that it's actually on the second story.

ok, i just noticed that they are joining, but in an odd way.
