Schedules: When I'm putting in a schedule, usually under Type, there's a ___, sometimes and there's a numeral string I can edit, sometimes there's no numerals and not text, can't edit it at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you show us some screenshots of the scheme and the result you're experiencing?
Otherwise it's not clear right now what your questions concerns exactly.

Alright, some of these cells have the three dashes "---" which usually indicates that this item can not be queried for this value.
You haven't shown a picture of the actual scheme, so I can only guess what the fields were meant to be, and if they are "built-in" or come from properties.
My guess is that you are mixing either different element types (like columns and beams) and some of these built-in values are not available for that element type, or these are properties and you either did not include the right classifications (= making them available), somehow excluded some elements explicitely, or forgot to correctly classify some of your scheduled items. If these properties are calculated properties it's also possible that again because of different element type mixing in the schedule some of the base properties used in the calculation are not available to all tools.
So yeah, many things to check.

Hi,
The "---" indicates that the field in the schedule does not exist for that item.
i.e. an object does not have the field "wall thickness", but you can have objects and walls in the same schedule, and display the wall thickness as a field, you would get the "---" in the wall thickness field for the objects.
not all objects have all the fields of other objects.
The Empty looking field indicates that the text value is empty or only has spaces.
you might check to see if the objects are locked or on locked layers for your view for the schedule.
I hope this helps.

GH29 is an object? GH30 is a beam/column? zmfh1 is a slab?
And you have scheduled "Thickness", available for all 3 element types, "Width" and "Depth", both which are not available for slabs? What is the last field?
