Position-based Weathering in CineRender

Hi,
I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve weathering effects based on proximity to an edge of a polygon. From what I can tell, the Weathering shader effect just smears a texture over the whole surface - I'm wanting something that takes account of position on the surface (for example, to do darker edges on asphalt roads as they near the kerb)

Is there a way of achieving this? Either through the Weathering effect or some other shader type?

Thanks.

Thanks - I'll explore that for concave edges. It may not work for convex edges though...

Ambient occlusion is more about light penetration into corners... so it won't give you that much flexibility in creating a weathered effect to the edges of your materials. I have yet to find something like VrayDirt on the Cinerender Engine which can do what you're wanting...

There are two instances of AO: applied to the whole scene as an effect or applied as a procedural shader in surface channels.

This means you can use it as a layer to affect a texture, weathering effect etc, from what I understand from the help article I linked (scroll down all the way to the bottom).

Concave / rounded edges won't work most likely, as they are just a lot of small straight segments in the end.
