BIG WISH - ArchiCAD 26 Full and ArchiCAD Start Edition file compatibility.

Please, oh @GRAPHISOFT, please. Please make it possible to have some sort of compatibility between ArchiCAD full versions and ArchiCAD start editions.

For context, I've recently started a smaller practice, with no need for the larger features/subscription fees of ArchiCAD. But, in order to transfer my AC26 templates, detail library pln (which I've been developing for years) as well as old projects. It means I essentially have to re-do them, which would take a several weeks.

I've been using ArchiCAD for almost 2 decades.
And the fact that I'm locked into a full version of ArchiCAD because of file compatibility and also what seems to be the graphisoft business model. Really, really bugs me to no end.

Does anyone know if Graphisoft will one day soon actually consider making file compatibility between versions?

If someone has some insight into this, that would be great.

I know this is just your wish, but I don't know if there will ever be a full to start compatibility.

I think there is just too much information that will need to be stripped from the file.

A bit like saving back in versions (26 - 25 - 24) with the full (and I assume start), you can only save back one version at a time because of the features you will lose.

It must just become too tricky when there will be a lot of redundant features - such as going from full to start.

Versions 6.5 to 27
Dell XPS- i7-6700 @ 3.4Ghz, 16GB ram, GeForce GTX 960 (2GB), Windows 10
Lenovo Thinkpad - i7-1270P 2.20 GHz, 32GB RAM, Nvidia T550, Windows 11

Thanks, Barry.

I also find it weird that there is an "ArchiCAD Solo Version" but this doesn't seem to be available in NZ.
Also at a considerably cheaper price.

This was discussed here https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Wishes/Archicad-Solo-Version-to-be-Available-in-Australia-and-NZ...

Is there any reason why the ArchiCAD Solo edition is still not available in NZ & Australia?

I always thought Solo and Start were the same thing - just named differently in different markets.

But it appears not.

It seems Solo can open full version files.

But the Start edition can not.

You will have to contact Central Innovation to find out why here is no Solo version available in NZ.

There is an INT version for both, so it can't be an English language thing.

And I am guessing they use different licenses?

You could download from the website and try it though to check.

When I google "ArchiCAD Solo NZ", it turns out this discussion has been thrown around since 2017.
Pretty disappointing to be honest. I can't see any justifiable reason for not having the same options as other ArchiCAD users in the days of digital licenses.

Not to mention us smaller firms (and one man bands) who effectively have to pay up or re-draw when collaborating with larger firms like I do.
I'll contact central innovation and see what they have to say on the matter.

Thanks again.
