Composite individual skins editing/reno status/visibility

FINALLY be able to independently edit the skins of a composite wall/slab/roof: - to be able to give it a different status: to be demolished/created... - to be able to edit it in 3d so that each layer has its own dimension (length, width, height, or even different shape) - to be able to display or not a skin in plan/section/3d... - and many other things that reflect the way a building is constructed! THANKS !

Focus on existing, underdeveloped, tools

I wish that GS put some focus & development resource on the underdeveloped tools it already has. I feel this would add far more to the functionality of the software than adding new tools. Granted the design options function was requested and they are delivering this in V27 but what about an upgrade to the mesh tool which has been unchanged for decades. I'm not sure why this is still in 'under research' on the roadmap as it is sorely need. GS could incorporate LAND4 functionality into AC  and they would instantly bring huge gains in this area of design.

Doors & windows is another area that could do with a major upgrade but this is stuck in the 'idea pool' when it should be in the 'in progress' section.

What about a floating palette for live control of layers? Surely a junior developer could make this happen?

Keynoting is in the 'under research' section when it should also be 'in progress'. Efficient database sourced notation would provide huge gains in our workflows especially if it is integrated nicely into the Properties and Classifications functionality.

I realize that things can't happen overnight but GS is a large multinational software company so some of these glaring omissions in its toolset is frustrating. AC users are forced to develop workarounds or pay additional fees for tools that should be in the base AC offering.

I wonder if the Nemetschek umbrella will continue to fund AC as it loses users and can't pay for itself?

Composites and Profiles - Classifications and Properties

We seriously need to add classification and properties to composites and to profiles.

I would much rather manage common data for one wall composite type than manage the common data in 1000 placed instances of the wall composite type.
This would be soooo BIM!

a Webinar on how Archicad develops in-house their GDL objects

I think it could be of great interest for us GDL developers to know the details on how Graphisoft is using their (or third party) toolset to manage and develop their sophisticated GDL objects for the standard Archicad Object Library.

Graphisoft Learn Portal: Indefinite free access for SSA - vs current 6 month course limit

I got a notice today that I have been deactivated from the Archicad 26 Upgrade Training class on the Graphisoft Learn Portal because 6 months has elapsed since I signed up.  (Never mind that I haven't even looked at the content yet.)

Screen Shot 2023-01-13 at 5.04.49 PM.jpg

Further, I can not sign in again for free as an SSA member using the coupon code - because the site tells me that I'm already enrolled (!) and would now have to pay USD $ 175 which is insane.  The spot where you enter the SSA/FORWARD coupon code is gone:

Screen Shot 2023-01-13 at 5.04.33 PM.jpg

This wish is for SSA members to have indefinite access to all courses as long as they maintain SSA status.  No major learning platform boots you out of a course if you are still an active member.  Everyone has to sign in with their GSID ... so that platform already knows if you are SSA or not... so it should not even be necessary to enter a coupon code...which is so utterly stupid... and is yet different than a Promo Code which appears in the shopping cart.

Please make this a platform that supports customers, rather than a labyrinth to annoy them.

Custom/User-defined Renovation Statuses

It would be great to have another option in the state of renovation.
1- To be demolished
2 - new
3 - To be legalised (Blue)

[Moderator: After some discussion, we agreed that it would be even better to be able to define any number of custom/user-created Renovation Statuses.]

Rhino is better than ArchiCAD prove me wrong!

After 20 years full time of Archicad and only 1 Year equivalent full time of Rhino. I'm well in the position to make this call.

Prove me wrong by adding these sick as Rhino features:

1. Type command bar

2. Re-Do Command by Enter

3. Gumball to move objects in 3D

4. Snap Points in 3D

5. 3D Polylines

6. Multiple viewports for elevations on one screen

7. Optimized High Poly projects

8. Better FBX Import

That's my lazy attempt and all I can think of at the moment.

Graphisoft must keep developing EcoDesigner Star

There will be more added values for Archicad with EcoDesigner Star than the structural features that Graphisoft is trying to integrate in Archicad actually. I know the thermal bridge performance requirements are very high to meet and there are too many obstacles with EcoDesigner Star. The best thing to do is to put it on the market as a beta version so that we can help Graphisoft improve it.

It's about a bad idea to stop developing it!

Pointcloud Performance

Hello you lovely Archicad people,

right now we are trying to work with Archicad and pointclouds.

Please enhance the performance with pointclouds.

Have a look into https://github.com/potree/potree

The performance is crazy and its all done in a web enviroment. We should try to implent something like this in Archicad.

first try could be a "browser" inside Archicad with webGL support.

second try could be a proxy modell of the webGL pointcloud inside the 3D window

and so on....

if you need an example contact me please. We have something to present. We are working with some talented people who are enhancing the potree functions and are working with big pointclouds.

There some addons like BIMmTool and they work fine but workin with pointclouds is an upcoming thing and right now its state of the art. we cant miss it and we have to be sharp regarding this field of architecture.

Performance Enhancement

Better Control of the pointcloud (pointsize, pointcount, pointcloudsize)

Better Control of the presentation

Controll of the color channels

Multi-Threating (i know different wish and section)

And the whole workflow should be reviewd, right now its a crazy amount of converting files through too many different formats...we start with the scannerfile, go to pointcloud formats and then we land in .lcfs....this is a really bad uncontrollable process.

Request for Trignometrical functions/identity improvements

Dear Graphisoft,

Please improve the accuracy of the trigonometrical functions/identities, their impact dealing with every day work on Archicad is beyond significant starting from drawing/plotting of curved geometrical entities, to the calculation of surface areas, to 3D representation, ....& etc.

Besides, their impact on the GDL for creating library part is far greater than expected for the type of objects that my clients (which are also your clients) need.

Best regards

Wishlist filters

Hi,

since the new wishlist which introduced a state of the wish (open, upvoted, under consideration, on roadmap) there were added 2 more states which can occur, which are "closed" and "on hold"

KarelLanda_0-1753273186957.png

I think that there should be a possibility in filters to show these as well. If you start filtering eg. upoveted, the 2 new states will not show up.

Archicad Icons

Can we please have a bigger difference between the Archicad version icons, maybe the version number included in the icon. We generally run the last 3 versions and they are all very similar. Can the .bpn icon also be made very different to the standard .pln icon, maybe make it red.

make Param-O coder-friendly

I want to double click a GDL component in paramO and have the GDL IDE in front of my eyes.

I want that the GDL component has as many parameter/variables inputs as I want (currently only 4), each one showing it's name not a "A,B,C,D" mapping that makes not sense at all.

I want a param-O component that knows how to read XML/HSF files of a gdl object, and that prompt which parameter/variables I want to use as inputs of the param-O component.

I want a python component in param-O with a minimal python interpreter to write python code, that is able to read *.py files, executes python code and outputs the result of desired variables used in the python code.

Param-O shouldn't be only for users who don't want/can't learn to code GDL scripts.

Cigraph Archiquantplus

I recently found out that Cigraph is probably closing down, which is really sad after all this years of creative contribution and support.  I hope this is not true, but I am trying to contact them and I am getting no response.

Also the addons are not updated to the latest version of Archicad 26. Cigraph is still selling and support the previous addons but seems that they will not upgrade any of it. Honeslty I hope I am wrong or it is just temporary.

I was lucky enough to buy a license for the updated version of Archiquant Plus 25 and realized that this addon was the most valuable investment for  Archicad as it upgraded the scheduling capabilitied and added realtime cost management with a fantastic UI. Cigraph did the most advanced addon for scheduling and cost calqulation!!!!!!

If indeed Cigraph is closing, Graphisoft should discuss with Cigraph and continue and evolve this addon to be added in the core Archicad like Ecodesigner and MEP modeler.

Archicad will be upgraded to a reall 5D modelling platform

From my point of view ,I would consider this addon the first priority of Graphisoft. If Archicad 27 was released even with just that addition without anything else, It would be a significant upgrade to the BIM methodology as it will add the cost parameter directly in the design process in real time.

AC25 Cabinet Objects

Obviously, the AC25 cabinet objects have been completely overhauled. I'm all for embracing a new tool and taking the time to learn how to use it. However, there seem to be some critical issues with the design of these new objects, which interfere with how some people choose to present their casework. A few of these issues might, in fact, be very easy to resolve in a future library update. I'll start with the easy ones:

  1. Knob Positioning. This is a simple – albeit mind boggling – one (and perhaps easy to resolve). The knob position of the cabinet doors seem to originate from the bottom hinge side of the cabinet door in an XY grid. This was an unfortunately stupid idea. This means that if I have a completed 3d model of a kitchen (and thus, finished interior elevations), and the client asks to see what 42" tall wall cabinetss might look like...well, sure, I can change the dimension. And then I'll simply go into the int elevations and adjust the knob position of every single door. Just switch the knob macro's start position to be the opposite side, and make sure that it originates from the top/bottom of the door (in accordance to whether it is a wall cab or base cab), and no matter how I resize the cabinet, the knob will be in the correct location. And I won't need to create a favorite for every single conceivable cabinet design possible, just to make sure that the knobs are in the correct place in my model and interior elevations. It seriously wastes so much time to have to go back in and realign the knobs every time I change a cabinet's dimension.
  2. 3-Door Cabinets. They do exist. We still need them in some instances. And no, we cannot simply use three single-door cabinets. See item #6 for the reason why.
  3. Face frames. I know, another annoying American here. I love the European look, but don't often get to employ it. A face frame design would be fantastic. Obviously, this might be a fairly big issue to implement, UNLESS...I do have a solution. "Front Panel Right Offset" and "Front Panel Left Offset" are two options given. They allow me to overhang the door/front panel out past the outer edge of the cabinet. I will never, ever use this function. But what I would use is the ability to shrink the panel size, in order to mimic a partial overlay cabinet. I could simply increase the "Carcass Thickness" to be 1 1/2" or so (as I would if I were trying to mimic a face-framed inset cabinet door), and then punch in a negative offset number (of course, negative numbers aren't allowed in this field. For reasons, I'm sure). Just add in a top, bottom, and center offset (in the case of double doors), and viola. I have a partial overlay cabinet that I can work with.
  4. Double Drawers for Double Doors. It's far more common in our locale for double door cabinets to have two drawers (or false panels) that align above. Yet this is not an option. Again, for reasons.
  5. Undermount Sinks. They don't show as undermount on the floor plans. Like they used to.
  6. Floor Plan Representation. I don't know what happened here, but the floor plan display has some serious issues. All centering around the new inability to disable the cabinet and carcass hidden contour lines. This obviously causes an issue with figuring out how to correctly show a 3-door cabinet, and I'm certain that it causes many other problems and inconveniences that I'm yet to uncover. I get it, we're supposed to use the model view options – or set a custom 2D Detail Level – in order to hide the various hidden lines. This just seems like another new way to waste time. The old cabinet objects weren't nearly this functional, but at least they didn't necessitate us having to insert separate sink objects and linework in order to show the kitchen layout the way that we want to on the floor plans. They just worked. And no. Using a widely spaced dotted line is not a proper work around. Lot's of teeny, random little dots everywhere is not going to work. This software is far too expensive to be reliant on such old-school hacks.

Just want to ease some tension – these new objects ARE INDEED much more versatile and functional than the last iteration. They are an improvement. You guys simply missed a few critical things, which make much of your work nearly useless – as I (and others I'm sure) am seriously considering loading the old cabinet objects into my template to avoid having to take the extra time it would take to use the new cabinet objects. Though I would love to successfully employ the use of these ones.

Thanks,

Wish: glTF export

Hello!

I think it's extremely urgent to get the possibility to export to glTF from Archicad.

In a sector where complexity is rapidly increasing the rise of specialists is upon oss a long time ago. This is also present in the theme visualization. If it is rendering, animation and especial VR-software, sometimes you need to exchange with external expertise. A format that often is supported for exchange of 3D-model with textures are glTF. We have long had the possibility to export .obj and .fbx. But as of lately versions of Archicad the .fbx format is gone. Nether .obj or .fbx is considerd a modern file format and is not used by any software that can support any other format as glTF.

So please Grapisoft. Let us share our lovely Archicad models with others, including all the work we do to surfaces to make them look nice.

Archicad & Apple quo vadis?

Hello together

Sorry if the English is not perfect and I might use wrong terms, we use Archicad in German

Unfortunately I have to express my displeasure regarding Graphisoft's current policy here. We have been with them since version 6.5 and have always been on Apple machines.
Originally this was a very innovative program and has also developed well. However, suddenly only more functions were introduced, which are not fully developed and are only usable in the beginning. For example, the theme of layers is still not usable in its full potential.
In addition, new items were always introduced in the menu and a proper cleanup never took place. So currently settings for graphical overrides are stored in different menus and a clarity is not given at all.
In addition, the support (at least on Apple computers) of multiprocessors was never implemented cleanly and Archicad became slower and slower, although with each release of speed optimization is spoken. However, the projects are also getting heavier and heavier, since they are more extensive and are done in BIM (currently we have projects that are larger than 10 GB). Patience is already put to the test when changing a floor. This with the latest Intel hardware.

Now to the actual annoyances / wishes:
Menu structure & features
Why don't you cut off the old pigtails, be only moderately update-compatible with the previous version, but once again cleanly tidy and above all efficient and contemporary?

Speed
Large projects are extremely sluggish, let alone in connection with IFCs. Massive optimizations are necessary here and a division of the processes on several processor cores! When will there finally be a massive speed increase here?

Apple Silicon
In the meantime, all relevant software in our office is already optimized for Apple Silicon. Only Archicad is not yet ready. This change was announced some time ago and even VectorWorks has completed this change a long time ago!
Does Graphisoft want to rely only on Windows in the future and should we therefore switch as soon as possible and no longer purchase the updates? With the speed of these changes and the poor support of multiprocessors, I'm already scared and anxious for the Apple Silicon version!
Can you reassure us here and promise similar speed increases as VectorWorks?

BIM server
Will this also be developed on Apple Silicon? Unfortunately, I have not found any information on this at all!

Hope very much that Graphisoft gets the curve with Archicad and is again in front. Currently, Graphisoft seems to be resting on its laurels and the topic of BIM, since there are hardly any serious competitors. In addition, a clear commitment to the Apple platform would be necessary: For example, the purchase / merger of Data Design System, which exclusively produces programs for Windows, makes us fear bad things. This together with the duration for the removal of essential bugs, such as the not changeable size of windows (should be fixed with the patch 5005, but which is still not usable due to further bugs).

Point clouds visible in layouts

Anonymous
My wish is for point clouds to be visible in drawing layouts, so that they may be used as base as-built drawings without having to take the effort to approximate what's there by modeling the as-built condition in BIM, painstakingly traced over the point cloud. On a renovation job, it would be more accurate, and less work, to just show the existing-to-remain point cloud on the drawing, along with cuts of any modified or added portions, which would be modeled in BIM. Breaking up the point cloud into regions and removing points to be demolished could happen in Recap or some other point-cloud-specific software. It would be ideal if we could follow the workflow described in this link for our renovation jobs, but in Archicad instead of Revit:

https://www.autodesk.com/autodesk-university/class/Reducing-Waste-Through-Reality-Capture-Utilizing-...

There is an existing work-around for Archicad, detailed in a video from 2015 or 2016, but it results in a not-to-scale, low-res raster image on the drawing sheet and would not allow this workflow. For this to work, point clouds need to show up in plan, section, and elevation layouts on sheets. Their visibility/characteristics should be adjustable (e.g. apparent point size, whether the point color is based on intensity, RGB, etc), so that points visually become lines.

If most of the scanned elements are to remain, it seems a waste to model them, as the existing condition has already been described by the point cloud, in a much more accurate and detailed way than tracing over the point cloud could do. The same goes for portions or components of a building to be demolished. If the purpose of modeling something to be demolished is only so it shows up in a demo drawing, wouldn't it be better to just put a hatch over that portion of the point cloud and have that show up in the drawing?

Import attributes with appropriate folders

When importing attributes via Attribute Manager, every attribute should be imported together with its folder, ot at least there should be a check-box. I have attributes organized in folders, but when I import them, the file that the attributes are imported into has them all in its root folder. It's not as much as a feature wish but a consistent implementation of a feature.

The ability to view multiple archicad views next to eachother.

To effectively compare concepts on worksheets or layout views with the actual model in plan view, section/elevation, and 3D perspective, I often need to switch between different views.
However, when I want to compare the details I'm drawing with the model, constantly switching views becomes inefficient. I would like the ability to have two or more views active or visible simultaneously.
I’m aware that “Trace Reference” is available, but it tends to be slow and its position can be obscured by the current model or drawing I’m working in.
