Hi All,
This is something I am sure has been brought up many times over the years, but I will say it again, we need a more efficient way to create parametric objects within Archicad.
I am currently working on a hospital project in Australia and I have been tasked with creating our company AusHFG library for current and future hospital projects. Whilst I love using GDL, I can’t help but think as an Archicad practice we are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to creating objects when compared to Revit based practices.
Creating parametric objects is critical to hospital work and a lot of resources are spent creating a working AusHFG library, time that could be better spent on project work. It’s evident that there has been community backlash with regard to the latest Archicad release. I think it’s fair to say that Archicad really needs to do something big for long term Archicad users like myself in order to win back trust. A more efficient way to create parametric objects is a great place to start and something that frankly needs to be addressed. Revit is looking more and more appealing.
Regards,
Jarrod
I wish we could hide individual or multiple sides of a fill the same way you can when you're editing a complex profile. This would be preferable to drawing a fill with no outline and then using lines or polylines where needed.
We desperately need a built-in keynote system that allows for editing within a schedule (similar to door/window schedules), but also able to be tagged to a non-object such as detail drawing lines, fills, etc. and be searchable throughout the entire project - plans, worksheets, elevations, details, etc. We want to be able to say that THIS THING (whatever, and wherever it is) is associated with THIS KEYNOTE, and to be able to find all those keynotes wherever they are and modify their data in a single location.
Graphisoft team, please consider this request.
I am writing to propose an enhancement that I believe would greatly benefit the Archicad community: the introduction of a "FADE DISTANT ELEMENTS" feature in interior elevations. Currently, both the Elevation and Section markers have this functionality, and it has proven to be an invaluable tool for many users. This feature allows for a clearer and more professional presentation by fading out elements that are further away from the viewer, thereby enhancing the focus on the primary elements of interest. However, this same functionality is absent from the Interior Elevation marker settings. This omission seems puzzling, especially considering the frequent requests from users over the years for its inclusion. The addition of the "FADE DISTANT ELEMENTS" option in interior elevations would provide;
Given the apparent benefits and the community's long-standing request for this feature, I strongly urge the Graphisoft development team to consider its implementation in future releases of Archicad. This enhancement would undoubtedly be a valuable addition, elevating the user experience and output quality for all interior elevation work.
Archicad needs real NURBS-based modeling — not just faceted approximations.
Bring true curves and smooth surfaces to Meshes, Shells, Curved Walls, Slabs, Roofs, and beyond.
Why?
True Curves: No more fake polygonal curves — get mathematically clean surfaces.
Better Performance: Smooth, editable surfaces without needing thousands of facets.
More Design Freedom: Create organic, fluid forms natively inside Archicad (no Rhino detours).
Future-Proof BIM: Support the next wave of architectural forms and workflows.
Notes:
Of course, this would be a big change, but even starting with a few tools (Meshes, Shells) would be a huge step forward.
Let's bring true surface control to BIM — it's time.
EVERY CAD/BIM/3D software has this essential feature - why doesn't ArchiCAD?
There was a discussion in one of the beta tests years ago about enabling this, at least based on favorites (if you change a favorite, all placed "instances" of this favorite will be updated, too. Of course, there should be options to exclude (override) defined elements.

Design Option Combinations should be a column in the Drawing Manager.
We work in the motor industry and part of our work involves using vehicle tracking software in 2D & 3D. Currently we have to have a full version of AutoCAD to run AutoTURN.

Why does Graphisoft not have a plug in for something like this? Using library tracking curves is not enough.
Can Graphisoft advise why they don’t have a link to a dedicated tool, this must be a requirement of other designers. The inclusion of this would mean that we could remove the need for AutoCAD completely.
We look forward to your help on this.
It would be wonderful if there was a way to create custom profiles for door casing.
I just spent 10 $%#&! minutes going through dozens of tabs and probably 100 clicks to simply make a rail be all one color when shown in the elevation, or any 3D window. This is not how we should be spending our time with this program. I reported this four years ago here. Laszlo Nagy was involved in the discussion as well, so it "should" have made it to R&D.
Please, PLEASE make a single button for the stair, curtain wall and rail tool to turn the "entire" 3D representation of those elements one pen.
Do. This. Now! Fix existing potholes already in road.
As discussed in this post we would like password protected object to be used in library packs. It is silly to have to even ask for it.
Key improvements needed:
- Direct edit of modules in place.
- Fix labels positioning problems in mirtored/flipped modules.
- make it optional to add the embedded library to the .mod files (prefer not to add) or filter out embedded libs if they already exist in host.
- Make it possible to schedule the Module. Not just components of it. (I want to schedule which bathroom type goes into which apartment type)
- Make it possible to schedule and label mirrored modules.
- Modules currently remember their source storey. Bad idea, if I want to insert a new storey between 2 existing negative module storeys. Solution needed so a new storey does not mess up the placement of all modules
- Option required to Not show .mod files as openable projects in Archicad start-up window.
Typically, it us a bad idea to open mod filesvand edit in separate Archicad, because it will surely mess up attributes. Not to mention, that if you open stand alone mod-s, there is no way to see the context.
Please also refer to (and vote) the below Module related wishes, where - as requested - I separated this complex wish into several parts.
Make Modules Great Again - 1: In Place Module Management
Make Modules Great Again - 2: Embedded Library Management
Make Modules Great Again - 3: Attribute Management
Make Modules Great Again - 4.0: Schedule Modules
Make Modules Great Again - 4.1: Schedule Mirrored Modules
Graphic overrides would be much better if we could apply a color range for some properties, parameters or simply data.
One use case is in urbanism where for example I want to show height of the building scheme (either in 3D or 2D site drawing).
As for now, We have to create multiple rules for each possible value.
With color range we could set eg. minimum and maximum value and their representative colours. Or just simply say to assign different colour for a different value for properties with possibility to change he colour if needed.
Presently, an Archicad software license may only be assigned to one computer at a single time, and there is no way to remotely deauthorize a license so that it may be downloaded to another computer. Graphisoft might address this issue by the summer of 2023. Does anyone else not see this setup as ridiculous? I frequently do work on my home computer, and sometimes on my laptop when away from home or the office. The only way to use the license on multiple computer is to release the license back to the license pool using the License Manager Tool. This process is horribly inconvenient to do when I am racing out of the office to pick up kids from soccer practice, etc. Industry leading software, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and Adobe, not only allow you to install the same license on two different computer simultaneously, but they notify you when you have exceeded the allowable number of computers and allow you to log into their websites and deauthorize a computer so the license is free to be used on another computer. Please, please, please Graphisoft, don't wait until 2023 to address this issue with software licenses.
You have a list of zones in a schedule and at the bottom you have a total sum of the zone areas. It would great if you could define that sum as a new expression based property and use it eg. in different schedule. Like in Excel.
It's been some years now, but there has been no further updates to the Surface Textures.
Yes, we can use it for
Please give us some consistency and deploy new features everywhere. (They're useless otherwise)
This alone would have more impact than the botched PBR shader.
