I am not sure I understood your request. If your aim is to export a 3D DWG you are able to do this since a 3D view by "vectorial engine" instead of openGL.

You should try Christophe's suggestion. I assume when you say the other trade wants to interact with the DWG file, it means that they need a 3D DWG which they can edit.
You can save a 3D DWG file from the 3D Viewpoint, just as Christophe suggested.
