AC17 Element ID Manager - Resequencing IDs issue

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello,

In AC 14 and prior, the Element ID Manager (EIDM) had the ability to
renumber ID's in any order you wished. For example you could pick every window
in counterclockwise sequence and use the EIDM to quickly reset the ID's in a
counterclockwise sequence.

However in 17, while you can change the ID's with EIDM, you can no longer
choose your sequence direction. The order in which you choose the windows no longer
changes the sequence. It appears clockwise has become the default.

Can GS look into this and rehabilitate the Element ID Manager's re-sequence ID
functionality to follow the users' selection sequence?

Thank you,
Mark

It works for me.

I selected 5 Walls, the ID of all of which I set to "SW - 000"

Then I selected then in this sequence: 3rd (from left), 4th, 5th, 1st, 2nd.

Went to the Element ID Manger Dialog, set Element Type, to Wall, Chose Element ID for Selected Criteria and selected the Unique ID for Each Element radio button. Set ID format to "W-001".
The IDs of the five selected Walls were changed to "W-001" to "W-005" in the sequence I selected them. So for me it works as it did in previous versions.
This is in AC17 INT.

Thanks for looking into this for me, but I'm still getting poor results:
Could this be a bug in the window ID's exclusively?

Yes, you are right.
In case of Window elements it does not work as one would expect.
Actually, I could not find out what the logic was when selecting Windows in multiple Walls. It just does not follow the order of selection.
I will report this to Graphisoft.

At first reading, I though you meant the OS (it doesn't work on Macs either).

Another problem i've noticed, (when working with the window tool) Keystrokes
are not always recognized when changing the "ID Components" (in ID Format).

The work-around is to "Save settings & close" then reopen Element ID Manager.

Laszlo:
Is the "input" issue know to GS? It happened in earlier versions as well.

Demonstrated in this Eric Bobrow Tutorial: (at about 2:35)

They will now be able to see that it indeed worked in AC16.
