DETAIL MARKER HEAD ROTATION?

in the model view, the detail marker head is horizontal, yet when I place the viewmap on the layout, I needed to orient the view in a 90 degree rotation.

therefore, the detail marker head is now no longer horizontal....how do I get the marker head to display properly so that it reads horizontal on the layouts. I know it will be rotated on the "model" environment and that's ok.....I just need the detail marker to rotate 90 counterclockwise so that it reads correctly on the "layout" (sheets).

When you make your rotated view make sure the 'ignore zoom and rotation when opening this view' check box is uncheck.

Also click on get current window settings at the top when you have it rotated.

Stuart,
I did just that.
Rotated my orientation in the model envirnment.
Then I saved my view.
Then I placed that new view on a layout and the market detail tag still will not rotate properly even after I've set the parameter in the actual marker head.

The detail marker still is rotated 90 degrees from how I need it to be.

Also make sure the other regular non rotated view has that check box unchecked as well in the view settings otherwise the view won't rotate back.

rotating the viewmap "before" I inserted it into the layout changes/alters "some" of the tags (door and zone name tags) but didn't do poo to the detail marker tag...no matter what parameters I have set the detail marker tag to?

dunno.

Ok maybe there is another setting to adjust in the detail settings.

I have attached the settings here. Make sure marker text rotation is set to horizontal and marker head rotation to always horizontal.

very strange...I don't seem to have that "marker geometry" in the settings? I'm using an AC18 detail marker so I'm not sure what's up.

Sorry forgot to tell you to use the built-in detail marker or Detail Marker Simple.

really? the detail marker too was created like the "stair maker" was programmed?
where they put two groups in a room, didn't let them talk to each other and said......."create the stairs"....

why wouldn't ALL the markers have the same functionality?

I have no clue why they don't all behave the same. Did that other detail marker work for you?

I'm also having a nightmare time working with these markers in a Rotated view. The Detail marker has always been sketchy (I think I've had the complaint since version 7). In a Rotated View, the sub-elements (marker polygon, line, and head) jump around erratically when Moved or Stretched, and getting the polygon to match the clipping plane is down right impossible.

What's worse it that, while it's easier to edit it effectively when the View Rotation is 0 degrees, switching back to the Rotated View shifts the marker to a completely different location.

From what I know about GDL, I think the various components are defined by X,Y coordinates that are sometimes relative and sometimes absolute. The code really needs to be cleaned up so the marker has completely self-contained (relative) geometry, except for the rotation of the text. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I have the expertise, and I know I don't have the time!

As said in this earlier post, it's just CRAZY!

So... circles, lines, and text it is! So much or BIM!
