Keynotes - favorites

Karel Landa

When you place a label with keynote content and want to change its content to another one (EG from Key 1 to Key 2), is there any different way than to replace it with new one?

If you select label and try to change it with one from favourites, it will place the "linked" "Keynote to favourite instead of replacing it with other parts.

Another case is when I have a level with only the Key, copy this label and want to replace the key with Description of the keynote.

Is there any way how to solve it quickly?

Hi @Karel Landa

We are planning a method to update the Keynote content in a Label with an another Keynote via the palette in an update, I don’t think this will be ready by the initial AC28 release though. But we’re working on it.

Thanks for your feedback.

I was just looking at this. It's a bit clunky replacing the keynote in many scenerios. It doesn't follow the same method as the design options for example.

I'd envisage the same logic would be: select the label with the keynote you want to change then double-click the desired keynote on the palette (just like you relink elements to design options). This Should then change the linked keynotes and nothing else. @James B is this the method being looked into?

Yes! That would be probably the best way.

We support users to place any number of keynotes into 1 label, and any keynote autotext they wish.

I'm not sure what the team has exactly planned, but I think it will replace all keynote autotext in the label with the autotext of the selected (double clicked) keynote from the palette. I think this matches what you mention as well.

I was trying something similar and I think it would also be interesting if, in the option to replace the content of the tag through autotexts, the possibility of adding content that does not belong to the same Key could be disabled. I believe that in large projects it can be a problem and may lead to manual errors. Attached is an image of two tags that have the same Key but a different description (changed from the autotexts).

@camilotapiasI understand the thinking of not having manual entries with keynotes but there might be a scenario where the build-up is the same and information is the same but, for example, the client installs one area and the contractor installs another area (I have this on my own retrofit). This would then need a manual note added to the keynote to save extra keynotes saying almost identical things. Or the keynote states windows are generally clear glass unless otherwise stated, you could then add the manual note to that keynote to say obscure glass. Your scenario is a concern but is resolved by drawing manager review rather than a lockout of manual input, unless GS can have a switchable lock on individual keynotes for additional manual input.

@James BYes that's what I was thinking with the double click. I would strongly suggest getting the replacement bumped up the to-do list as I can see many people (including half my office) getting frustrated in placing keynotes and not easily being able to replace them. I'm replacing standard text with keynotes on an existing file to test it and even I'm getting frustrated with placing, editing and then relinking. I can already hear the 'it's a half-baked tool' comments coming from my colleagues.

Hi @thomaslodge

Thanks for the additional feedback. We are making sure to prioritise regression issues, crashes etc first to make sure AC28 final release is as stable as possible.

We plan to allow a label or labels to be selected, then choose a favourite, and replace the selected label(s) content with the selected Keynote in the palette - based on the chosen favourite.
