Just installed the latest hotfix (4001). Opened our template file and my timer got to 18:10 before I killed the process. Stuck on updating Lib data. It was slow before but now it's just ridiculous.

This may be turning into a separate issue but I fear still related to Hotfix 4001. Went from bad to worse. Completed a fresh installation of 28 and applied the previous hotfix (build 3120). Can open a blank file but I can't open our template which was last saved in 3120. I'm still getting the "Can't read Plan file" notification. Not even sure how this file has been corrupted if it wasn't "saved" in 4001 but if that is the case, open/repair fails too.
So, I copy over our current AC27 template also saved in build 3120 and it opens in 28. re-assign mods/hotlinks, all good. Re-assign BIM libraries from 27 to 28 and works, interestingly with quicker load times. I'm going to keep testing and find the root cause of the issue, will report back when I find something more conclusive.

Check the file size of the file that won't open.
Maybe it is corrupted and has 0 MB?
Also open Archicad and then FILE menu > Open > Open to bring up the browse for file dialogue.
Find the template that won't open and see what it says for version number in the bottom right corner.
If it shows no version number, then the file is corrupt - or has been saved in a newer version which is not really possible.

ticks all the right boxes but won't open. This is the Master, the actual template file below (.tpl) doesn't show any details but that's likely because of the file type.

Have you tried the 'Open & Repair' option?
I am out of suggestions now.
I think I would send this file to Central Innovation and ask them to have a look.

It's nigh on impossible to diagnose these things off site, so thanks for your input anyway Barry. I'm still testing thru process of elimination, may even be my profile gone bad as we've had issues with other users. If it comes down to it , yes I'll send to CI but for now will see how far I can get, Onward and upward 🙂
