This is a continuation of my stadium design problem, but I wanted to try and not meddle with a long thread...

I've had some excellent success using slabs to create the stands, and "multiply + elevate" was just discovered fully by me last night (I'm unfortunately one of those people who don't normally read manuals, so it takes me a while to learn tricks of the trade....)

This "multiply + elevate" works awesome for creating the stands along straight portions and means I can produce unlimited rows VERY easily.. however I'm having problems trying to do that around corners...

the REASON is because say you want a slab 800 mm thick and to follow the contour of a circle, the inside and outside perimeters are different lenghts, therefore simply offsetting the object does not fit, since it will need different perimeters... is there an EASY solution for stretching multiple slabs? similar to the ease of offsetting (multiplying) the same shaped slab.. in AutoCAD the program automatically resizes if it's a PLINE I think, but I can't see any feature like that for slabs....

since it doesnt take long to multiply and elevate start again with a "U" shaped slab. Make your stadium with square corners.
You can then radius the corners by selecting the slab tool in the toolkox and clicking a corner and select the radius icon on the pet palette the pops up.

Also if you want to lengthen the straight sections of multiple slabs use the marquee box around the end and then apply the strech command

A warning - once you have radiused the corner they are a pain to remove ( click the radius- turn into a chamfer - drag the extra hotpsots to the corner to clean up)

What I am on about is using offset linework to establish the edges of the stepped slabs.

Using the polyline tool with the automatic line/arc pet palette, this is the quickest way to define a shape with radiused edges.

And darned if you could completely skip the lines part and just do it by offsetting slabs.... duh.
