I'm convinced.

This water stuff is cool.

I look forward to having some time to play with it. When I did a bunch of renderings in Art*lantis for presentations the only materials we changed were glass and water and they made all the difference.

I also learned that too much reflection can look pretty strange. Even if it is real, it is not always what one thinks looks real.

And nothing is ever as smooth or perfect as in cyberspace so grime and roughness make folks comfy. It is more like their living room.

That is a modified [increased opacity] LightWorks material as applied to the waterwave object - a poly mesh of adjustable amplitude - reflecting the actual background elements of the scene.

So, unlike the old days, we didn't need to cheat.

LightWorks allows for control of five aspects of material quality, including a sort of fuzzy blob opacity that is ideal for mapping a water surface.
