Dear All,
I have a site plan drawing in AutoCAD with the point coordinates already defined. I have inserted this plan into a worksheet already. How can I align/match the coordinates of this plan correctly in Archicad?
Thank you.

Hi,
I’m very grateful that you shared the detailed process. It would be even more wonderful if you could review the PLN file I sent and show me the specific steps for one item, Building A, which I’m currently trying out.
Thank you very much.

- how to hotlink and position
- how updating works

Hi,
Thank you very much for your video. Is there a way to set up coordinates for each building so that when linking with the Hotlink module, it automatically aligns with the master plan?
Thank you!

You don't have to do this and it's not recommended anyway. You position it once and you just update when you modify it.

...So that if you later decide to move or rotate a building you just do it in the master model with all the context, rather than changing your entire building model.
It would be interesting though if you could place a Hotlink via survey point, though outside of the initial placement, it would be more troublesome.

I tried several approaches. Best way to model and document a building is with its external walls parallel to the X and Y coordinates. If the shape is non rectangular, i usually chose to align the longest wall to the X axis. And always place the long side on X axis (matching the screen and sheet formats).
Then if you want positioning, do it in another file, or if's a single building, using survey point rotation.

in my expereince, there are 4 options to align coordinates with external content (dwg or ifc):
open in a separate instance, and copy/paste the raw lines/fills into your file. The 0,0,0 relationship should match the original source origin/location.
place as an x-ref (this brings in a LOT of extra layers and stuff you may not want)
use the merge function... again, brings in a lot of extra stuff
...
if it is a 3d file, you can use a hotlink. You could also combine step 1 (open in a separate instance), save as a pln or module, and place as a hotlink. when placing the hotlink, you have options to place in original location
...
the only option that is difficult to match is drag/drop, since the drawing is self contained. unless the original drafter gives you a 0,0 relationship and rotation, you are kind of sunk.
