Sandwich Panel

Hi everybody. I was wondering, can I create sandwich panel by using wall tool?

The panel looks like this:

Kikoria_1-1688129096098.png

Kikoria_2-1688129120816.png

I built it using railing tool. It was easy, but I couldn't create an opening inside of it. Then I tried to dig into log wall but couldn't get the desired result. Is there any way in the wall tool to make sandwich panel like this?

Thank you in advance!

The accessories add-ons are part of the 'Goodies' add-ons download ...

https://graphisoft.com/resources-and-support/downloads?section=add-on

But if you are using Archicad 26 and have not installed the goodies yet, you will need to follow this procedure ...

https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Modeling/Accessories-Add-On/tac-p/357158/highlight/true#M251

I am not sure if you need the accessories to use the BIMObject sandwich panels? - I have never used them.

So this is how I use them..

I downloaded the first one from this manufacturer https://www.bimobject.com/en/europerfil/product/atica_1100_pur

  • Add it to your Library manager

mija_1-1688384852295.png

  •  Draw a wall, select it and follow the path

mija_2-1688384892078.png

  •  select your panel and customize it as you want
  • Then your cursor  will be like an angled eye so you select on which side of the wall you want your panel (sorry, dont know how to screenshot the cursor)

 Taa-daa

  • When adding windows/doors you place them to the main wall like this

mija_5-1688385083726.png

  • accessories will follow any modification of the wall
  • You can play with other libraries and objects from  bimobject website, but they pretty much work the same.

Hope this helped!

Alternative solution:

  • a simple composite with the outer layer as the max. thickness of the panel:

  • a whole lot of columns on a hidden layer with a building material that has higher priority than the outer skin to punch holes
    resulting in:

I use columns since they automatically clean up with walls.

I use wall accessories for this

here you can download a lot of sandwich panels: https://www.bimobject.com/en/categories/walls/sandwich-panels?native=true&software=archicad&sort=dow...

Here you have a tutorial how to apply wall accessories: https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Modeling/Accessories-Add-On/ta-p/303775

Thanks for your reply. Could you please help me find the accessories addition?

Wouldn't you be able to use a Profile for the wall?

Then it would behave as a normal wall and you could insert openings as you see fit?

Downloaded sandwich panels look great but have a tendency to be very detailed and could slow down the model (depending on the size of your project).

Also, accessories work well if they are well built - but again. I have seen accessories that cripple a simple model because the geometric elements are far, far too detailed.

That said, give it a go - see whatever works for you and good luck 🙂

Profiled walls are also cool, but it would work for horizontal alignment of sandwich panels. In my case I need the vertical alignment of them.

Cool. I've downloaded "Goodies" add-on. I am using Archicad 25 and where can I download the accessories library elements? Because when I go to the accessories settings, it's empty.

You should find you now have an 'Accessories Library' in your Archicad 25 program folder which you need to load in your Library Manager.

One last question; How do I add the sandwich panel object downloaded from the BIM site to the accessories library?
