Point Cloud import - Survey Point relation and data Export

I got a project file with a location set up with the Survey point. Correct Easting and Northing.

Now I have the Survey Point Elevation to set up as well. No problem, the Survey data has one I can use for the Survey Point Elevation.

There is also the Project location data to be set up. No worries, I need to open Google Earth or Maps, find the Latitude and Longitude and copy the data values to Archicad - this is informative data only, it does not change the project location.  There is another Altitude (Sea Level) field to be used. As most of experienced Archicad users know, this Altitude value does define the Project zero - Sea Level Altitude - offset. So far, so good. A bit confusing, as the Survey Point position values define the X/Y offset and the Project location Altitude (Sea Level) defines the Project zero offset.

Then there comes the time to use some Point Cloud data, which Archicad is happy to import and it works quite good (v27), but placing the Point Cloud has no option in relation to the before set Survey Point. Well, if I have managed to place the Survey Point, I might as well move the Point Cloud to the correct position, no problem. What about the vertical placement? As @Vimal Kumar once explained, you need to verticaly adjust the imported Point Cloud, in most cases (with a positive altitude in real world coordinates) you need to shift it down. This, again, can be done. As said, it's a bit confusing, involves way too many clicks, but it works.

Now let's try to export an IfcBuilding entity for IFC based collaboration outside of Archicad. Set the IFC translator to Survey Point and Project Origin, which all has been set up before. Great, all works, but the exported vertical model position is wrong with a negative offset of the Altitude and Level summed up.

I'll spare you all the steps and details of what I've experimented with to get to the best possible solution, which is fairly simple - the Survey Point Elevation has to be the exact negative value of the Project Location Altitude, which is in line with the negative values of the Project zero...

Well, dear Graphisoft, I think you can do better. Could we please have a better way for placing a Project into it's correct Easting, Northing and Elevation, which will work with all data imports and data exports without spending so much time to get things right?

If you would like GS to do something about it, then this should be made into a wish.

You should formulate a wish about this and post it on the Wishlist forum.
