Should have probably been doing something else yesterday but can't help myself taking on a side quest. 🙂

Thanks to everyone for expressing the interest. There's plenty to do beyond the demo - questions on how the update should work - currently the addon continuously checks if what was edited is a mesh and if connected to the custom object that generates layers. Ideally you would not want this running in the background at all times. So maybe a better way is to have a manual update similar to update zones. I'll play around with it when I have some spare time and post updates.

I would also like to test it out.

Thinking about it, if you can perform a SEO to subtract the mesh from the object, that would prevent intersection artifacts, as long as the face triangulation is equal. Might have a performance impact though?

Maybe leave that to users to define. At the end It all depends how users define their workflow. Manual update is fine, until the moment you have the submission and you forget to hit the update 😂.
Cheers

I have a problem with SEO's, ever since they cost me hours and hours troubleshooting - so much that a few years ago I went and paid for a dev to create an addon that finds them. 🙂
They have their place but only when all other options are exhausted. Hiding the source mesh on design option or a layer or making surface transparent is what I would prefer tbh

True, though my concern is performance impact on large projects. But that can be tested I guess.
