Since the eduregistration and trialregistration subdomains came into existence.
I don't know when that was, maybe 2-3-4 years ago?

There are 30354 members listed here on architalk. i assume each has at least one license. I am not sure how many members are current users of archicad.
I think it's safe to assume that the percentage of non-users here is pretty small. Hard to say how many of the total are students, but I would guess that at least 75% of members are active professional users. Among my clients there is usually only one or two who have joined, so for the multi-seat firms I would say it's about a 1 in 10 ratio on average. So the crux of it is the ratio of sole (or small) practice to larger firms. If we take an arbitrary 4:1 ratio that suggests that there are about 63,000 active ArchiCAD licenses represented by the membership. Not being up on statistics I have no idea my what margin of error is but it somehow feels about right or perhaps a bit low.

A review of the member list shows it to be overwhelmed with banned members - 13500 to date.

These members have a BN_ attached to the beginning of their name so they are easy to count.

The member list for me says 46520 members at the moment.
Minus 13500 banned, that leaves about 33000.
So Matthew's calculation may be correct.

Plus, those number are only people who speak at least some English.
I know there is a German AC-Talk with 7-8000 members.

We have many AC-users in our very small country but rarely anyone is on the forum. I don't know why. I always recommend the forum as a superb 24-7 support but I guess it's easier to call the distributor (that's me & my colleagues).

I got interested in the change in the last 17 months since I posted those numbers.

Right now there are about 72000 registrations in the Admin database, about 15000 are banned, so there are about 57000 members at the moment.

There are a lot less spam and banning since certain precautions were taken. This is why the number of banned people in the last 17 months increased only by about 1500 (~11%), while the number of members increased by 24000 (~70%).

And as I can see there are several time more guests on the forum than registered users.
Right now as I am writing this, the forum says there are 5 registered users and 33 guests.
