Most everyone else is probably WAY smatter than me and had this figured out ages ago - but. . . when zooming in and out with the mouse wheel, it always used to bug me that it never seemed to be zooming centered on my screen - it would always zoom off to one side or the other (never the side I needed though). I just figured out that the scroll wheel zooms towards where ever your mouse cursor is. If you want to zoom in a little to the right - have your cursor on the right side of the window you're working in. If you want to zoom in to the left, have the cursor on the left. This is probably old news, but I was excited to figure it out! Now I won't be wondering why the heck the zoom never seems to be centered on the screen.
