creating a circular roof

Anonymous
Not applicable
In my building design I needed to create a fake roof so that I could trim some walls. That worked great on the straight portion of the building but the inside of my building requires that I do the same thing but in a curved corner. Thus I need to create a roof that will sweep through a 90 degree arc such that the smaller arc is at the bottom of the roof (think of the corner of a football stadium). At first I thought I could just drag a copy of one of the already trimmed walls but without the roof structure the trimming is lost requiring me to create a fake item and then hide it. Doesn't seem to be too intuitive and is creating a lot of extra work for me. I have looked all over the ROOF tool but there doesn't seem to be any options to choose for curved/circular roof structures. All suggestions welcomed.

It is possible that a roof is not your best option to trim the walls. Perhaps you can use SEO better. ? Can you show a picture of what you want to do? We haven't had the circular roof tool in ArchiCAD for many years.

A curved roof (in plan) can still be created using the roof tool but it will be a series of small flat panels (as it always has been).
Domed roofs are now done with the shell tool.

If you need a more accurate cone shape or dome then use an object (primitive shapes) or the shell tool.

The shell tool can also use the connect > trim to roof/shell command and will use the shell cutting body like it does for the roof (see your other post).

Or again SEO may give better control.
With SEO you can use anything to trim - roof, shell, slab, morph, complex profile wall/beam, etc.
It is just a matter of getting the form you need to use as the operator.

You can make curved roofs atm by curving the pitching point and/or eave. I don't think you can make a donut though.
