someone please clarify. i have tried every way to follow the technique suggested by Mike Hann in his June 12, 2006 post to combine (ADD+) fills. when i select the first fill, left click on edge, select (+ ADD) in pet pallet . . . then, everything i try will not give me the magic wand to select second fill to add to first. i want to combine 4 or 5 fills into one.

Remember that your fills must be over lapping for this to work and you must hold down the space bar to get the magic wand to work.
Depending on which tool you have selected depends on what icon you will see.
For example if you have the arrow tool selected you will get not get the magic wand icon, instead you will get the 'arrow +mercedes' icon. While if you did the same with the fill tool selected you would see the 'mercedes' icon, which changes to the magic wand icon when you hold down the space bar.
With the space bar held down click on the edge of the fill you wish to (ADD+) and you should have the modified fill.
Then delete the fill you don't want.

Is there a way to quickly “unite” a bunch of adjoining or overlapping fills into one fill? If not, I sure wish there was. This would be handy for simplifying fills in an unlinked elevation with cast shadows.
See video 6 - Linework and fill consolidation here
One of several nice new features!!
Now, where is that 'Make Good Architecture' button I have been wishing for?!!

Cheers,
Pete.
