Saving as PLA to include Library Parts and Favourites

If anyone of us as Archicad user tried to save a project as PLA, and we tried to adjust PLA settings, we will find that you can either save the project with Favorites or with the used library parts, never both of them.

The importance of this issue are:

  1. When sending projects as PLA for collaborators that work locally (ie: each one on his own PC) they need to have full access to all projects' settings as it was set.
  2. PLA files already have the option to include Favorites for saving in PLA.
  3. Export Favorite independently have proven to be sometime challenging for some team members

Model Exchange with Revit

Everybody knows that Archicad may be better than other BIM author software, but the commercial power of Autodesk has inevitably led Revit to be the most widespread and used.

I would continue to use Archicad, but many of the companies I work for use "the other modeler", so they start to ask me files in .rvt format.

Not only files to be archived and forgotten, but 3D models to work on.

And now is wish/dream time: have a translator or an add-on which allow you to import and above all export fully editable models in both programs

You could answer me, telling "ask Autodesk" (and someone did...), but my answer back is in the first sentence of this subject, "this is not an Autodesk users problem..."

.LCF file size limit increase for point cloud file import

It would be great to increase the .LCF File Format size limit to allow a large point cloud file import beyond 4GB file size.

Thank You

Opening generated from an element should move and change with that element

If an opening is created from a selected element (e.g. MEP duct, pipe, or a cable tray) it should change as the parent element is changed. Resized, moved, deleted...

... manual corrections are very time consuming and very prone to errors.

Bidirectional Link - Grasshopper Connection

The Grasshopper connection is currently limiting in the sense that information can be read from Archicad, but only Geometry sent/created through the link can be adjusted.

It would be amazing if such a basic thing as having full parametric control over a model or parts of it would be possible. Sometimes it's really just about updating some parameters or properties in Archicad, not necessarily about the geometry.

Architect IFC Export Translator when sending to another Architect using Revit after Schematic Design

Many times we need to send an IFC file to another Architect Using Revit, and the intent is to get all Slabs, Walls, Doors, Windows, Curtainwalls, and spaces-zones sent so they get them as close to Native Revit objects as possible. In the import and export translator dialog for AC 29, we are missing that configured setting. This would be a huge help since we already have pre-configured settings for all the other design trades. We are creating out own, but think of all the newbies who just want it KISS.

Autotext on Master Layout missing on DWG export

When exporting to DWG with "Save Layout into > Paper Space with Cropped View's content", the autotexts related to the Layout info are not shown. Instead they come up as: for example #LayID. We are using title blocks that are placed on the Master layout from a saved worksheet view.

This needs to be fixed, so that it shows correctly on export.

As this thread remains unsolved for more than 10 years, I believe there should be a wish to solve that: Autotext on Master Layout missings on DWG export - Graphisoft Community

More Control Over Nested Modules in Module Linking

Short Summary:

Please allow selective inclusion of nested modules when linking hotlinks.

Currently, we can only include all or skip all nested modules, which leads to duplication issues in multi-file workflows.

In these situations, modules are often kept as .pln files instead of .mod due to documentation needs, which further complicates coordination. The ability to choose exactly which nested modules to include (e.g., include module E but exclude module B) would greatly improve control and workflow efficiency.

Description:

I would like to suggest an improvement regarding module linking and nested modules in Archicad.

Currently, when linking a module, we can choose whether to include or exclude its nested modules as a whole. However, there is no option to selectively control which nested modules are included.

I am aware that there is already a similar request regarding nested hotlinks, but I found it somewhat unclear and broad. For that reason, I wanted to describe this specific need in a more objective and practical way. (https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Wishlist/Nest-Module-Exclusion-Options/idi-p/690669)

In complex project structures, this becomes limiting. For example:

  • File A (main/master file)
  • File B (site/terrain)
  • Files C and D (buildings)
  • File E (typical floor module)

Setup:

  • File A contains modules B, C, and D
  • Files C and D contain module E
  • Additionally, files C and D also require module B (site)

As a result:

  • File A ends up containing B directly, and also indirectly through C and D
  • This creates duplication of module B (in A, C, and D)

Even if B is only placed in either C or D (instead of both), duplication still occurs once everything is brought into file A.

The current workaround is to disable nested modules, but this is not viable because module E (the typical floor) still needs to be included.

Additionally, in many of these workflows, modules are maintained as .pln files instead of .mod files due to documentation requirements. This makes the issue even more relevant, as coordination becomes more complex and the limitations of nested module control are more evident.

Request:

It would be extremely useful to have more granular control when placing modules, specifically:

  • The ability to choose which nested modules to include or exclude individually
  • For example, when placing modules C and D into file A, I would like to include module E but exclude module B

This feature would significantly improve workflow flexibility and help avoid duplication and coordination issues in multi-file projects.

BIMCloud File viewer

Be able to view files upload to BIMCLoud SAAS within the web browser without having to download - definitely pdfs but ideally dwgs as well.

BIMx: Bookmarks or Issue creating in VR-Mode

Hello,
I would like to use VR mode as a tool for review and quality assurance. I believe it is not only a good presentation tool for clients, but also a great opportunity to enhance the quality of our designs before construction begins. Therefore, it would be helpful to add issues or at least to create bookmarks of the views where design errors or shortcomings occur—directly within VR mode.
Currently, it is only possible to open existing bookmarks in VR mode. The touch button on the VR goggles provides a camera-like experience. It could serve as an intuitive way to take snapshots—creating bookmarks, issues, or similar notes.

Account log out everywhere

This wish is actually tied to Graphisoft ID, not a specific product.

It should be possible to log out of all sessions (products, websites) with a single click, so the next attempt to use software or website would actually prompt the user with the log in page.

Use cases:

  • With your credentials, you access your software, your account page on the website, or forums even, on a machine which is not yours, and forget to log out after using it. You no longer have access to that machine. A bad actor can do whatever he wants with your license and your data.
  • Your machine gets stolen.

I know you can release the license from anywhere, but if ArchiCAD is logged into your account, it will simply re-acquire license if it is marked as portable and there is no way of stopping it, short of removing license from the account or changing the license to not be portable. I know that for a fact because I've been using my license on three machines, not at the same time of course, two of which are my own, but the third is in a firm I work for as an outside consultant. It should be possible for me to log out remotely from everywhere if anything goes sideways.

Let DWG-DXF translator to not export some attributes

Hi all,

Recreating a wish that has been purged from the system... since I have been running into this issue more and more frequently recently...

Borgo1971:

I tried some times to find if it is possible to set conversion table to not export some Archicad Fills. Now I got the answer from Laszlo Nagy that it isn't, but I  think it could be a useful option in many case. So I ask to add the ability to map to "not exported" any of the attributes we already can map to a specific Autocad attribute.

Seems not to much complicated to do...

BIMcloud SaaS Guest access

Hello! With on-premise (codemeter protected) and GSID "free" usernames clients could freely share access to BIMcloud (web-ui) to external parties. Now the SaaS uses bundled Collaborate licenses, which is rigid.

I wish there was an easy flexible way of granting access to site engineers, clients etc. that don't use Archicad, but could utilize shared folders (up+download), BIMx-web (with communication features naturally). The licensing should be floating, flexible term and could be combined with BIMx Pro use.

Company admin/contract manager could manage subscriptions and accesses of the Guest subscription users.

This would boost sharing and wider BIM adoption and use.

Archicad to DWG/DXF - extra translation options

Hi everyone,
I’ve encountered a couple of issues while exporting files to DWG, and I couldn’t find relevant options in the translator settings:

  1. When exporting from a layout using the Paper Space with Cropped View’s content option, I noticed that certain auto text elements inserted into the title block - such as the drawing number, scale of placed drawings, and layout name - don’t export. To avoid duplicating the title block across dozens of drawings, I draw the title block in the 2D workspace and place it in each layout template (usually I have tens of sizes). Most of the title block content is set as auto text based on project info, and that part exports to DWG correctly. Given the large number of drawings, sheet sizes, and varying scales, this export method (Paper Space with Cropped View’s content) is the most efficient for me. However, I’ve noticed that this issue doesn’t occur when exporting to Model Space.

  2. I’ve developed a system for marking wall finishes using custom symbolic lines. Unfortunately, these lines don’t export to DWG, regardless of the translator used. Would it be possible to add an option to convert these symbolic lines into blocks in DWG - either by exploding them or enabling easier export of custom line types?

Thanks in advance for any tips or solutions!

Property Manager Organization

Hi Graphisoft and everyone. As the use of Properties is becoming more and more popular in some regions such as Singapore, I wish to have an option to organize it similar to the "Folder View" and "List View" found in other features of the software.

And along with this are options of expanding or collapsing all list. (mentioned here https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Wishlist/quot-Expand-All-quot-and-quot-Collapse-All-quot-functio...).

In addition, I wish to have an option to choose the properties/ group of properties selectively when exporting as IFC file.

Show Multiple Layers via Hyperlink

I group all the elements into different layers to hide and show those elements I want only.

I would like to compose a hyperlink to directly show the layer(s) I need only, so I could make sure others can look at the exact same layer(s) when I share the hyperlink.

IFC4 Support for 'IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit'

So I just found out that the IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit addon only supports IFC2x3, which was a bit awkward when I told a consultant they should use the addon as it gives better IFC import/export in Revit, and also told them to use IFC4.

Can we please expediate this addon to support IFC4?  (and also prepare for IFC5 would be great too!)

Thanks,

Scott

Alternative to XML

Currently, all settings are exported and imported via XML. A more user-friendly and readable file format such as Excel would empower a wider range of users to make use of this functionality, adding more control to workflows.

Window dpi setting

Having the possibility to control the window dpi setting globally would allow for a more consistent workflow. This would allow controlling and setting the export quality of images from an Archicad window across all Archciad windows in a file.

At the moment, this can be achieved by setting the window size, which is a workaround, not a solution.

SHX Fonts for Eastern Languages

The problem to address:

We don't use SHX fonts in our office, However we do work with consultants that work exclusively in Autocad. We often need to insert their drawings into our plans for both coordination and final design development.  Because the majority of our consultants use eastern languages in their drawing, They use SHX fonts in their drawings.  When inserting their drawings into Archicad either as an external reference or an inserted drawing, Archicad requests the location of the Missing SHX font. This is a one time option.  If the font is incorrectly mapped, or skipped, Archicad Caches this response for ALL TIME, and all future projects.  Over the years, this can get to the point where no consultant drawing will ever import correctly.

I have been informed, multiple times to remove the reference, save and restart Archicad and reinsert the drawing to get the option to re-reference the SHX file. This is only works when dealing with SHX linetypes / linework.  SHX Fonts do not trigger the same option for re-mapping.

The Idea for the Wishlist:

Ideal solution 1. A SHX manager where you can re-map the fonts or linetype/linework files in the cache.

Stop gap solution 2. A way to reset the cache so that all fonts get remapped (with the understanding that this will cause untold fun for older projects).
