Manual Editing of Relative File Paths in Drawing and Hotlink Manager

When working across different platforms (Windows and macOS), especially in environments with local networks or VPN connections, file path management becomes a major challenge. Automatic relative paths often do not work reliably, and for hotlinks this functionality is not available at all.

Providing the ability to manually edit file paths — with a clear option to explicitly define and store them as relative paths — would greatly improve cross-platform collaboration, team workflows, and project portability. This would be a significant quality-of-life improvement for many users working in mixed or remote network environments, myself included.

IFC Libraries in BIMcloud

To handle IFC hotlinks effectively in Teamwork today, IFC libraries must first be exported locally, then manually uploaded to BIMcloud, and finally re-linked into the project.
The option being Embedding them and slowing down the file.
This feels unnecessarily fragmented for a cloud-based workflow.

Why can’t IFC libraries be linked directly through BIMcloud?

And why does every new IFC import generate a completely new library instead of updating the existing one?

Rather than saving the libraries to either Embedded or External location, there should be a third option:

Save to BIMcloud (and link automatically).

Archicad should then recognize and reference the library immediately, without the export-store-upload-relink cycle.

A smoother BIMcloud-based IFC workflow would reduce friction, eliminate redundant file handling, and streamline collaboration.

Multi-composite roof

For the Norwegian (and other scandinavian/cold countries) it would be handy to have the ability to assign outside and inside areas of a roof.

We tend to have a lot of insulation, but there is no need for insulation on the outside. If the roof tool had an extra feature where you could draw a fill/area to designate a separate zone for a separate composite, the roof tool would be much more useful. As it is, using two separate roof objects is suboptimal.

Properties in Element ID Manager

Hi everyone!

Element ID Manager can be extremly helpful, but its potential feels limited by the fact that it can only use Library Part Parameters as criteria.
If Properties could also be used for filtering and assignment, it would unlock a much smoother and more flexible workflow, especially in larger projects.

Is this something to consider?

Schedules - Dimensioning and calculation units

Hi all,

I would like to request an improvement regarding the way measurement units are assigned and controlled in Schedules in Archicad. At the moment, Schedules are entirely dependent on the global project settings, namely Dimensions and Calculation Units defined in Project Preferences. While Dimension Units can be partially controlled through View Settings, Calculation Units cannot, which creates a major limitation in real quantity take-off workflows.

Because of this restriction, in many practical situations we are forced to keep certain schedules on Manual Update, and every time a schedule needs to be refreshed—which happens very frequently during design development—we must first go into Calculation Units in Project Preferences, change the unit system there, and only then update the schedule. This process is repetitive, inefficient, and very prone to human error, especially in larger projects with multiple schedules requiring different unit systems.

At the very least, it should be possible to define the measurement units independently per Schedule. If unit control per individual element or field inside a schedule is not technically feasible at this moment, then a minimum solution would be to introduce a Calculation Units override inside View Settings, similar to how Dimension Units are handled. This would allow each schedule view to operate with its own unit system, without forcing destructive changes at the global project level.

Thank you,

Victor

POINT CLOUDS PALETTE (improving work with pointcloud)

I am attaching an idea for a simple Point Clouds palette, which aims to streamline and improve work with point clouds. I think it is such a basis for the work to be meaningful. I am submitting a proposal for the entire palette, because adding functions one by one does not make sense in this case. You can find the description of the functions directly in the image.

Of course, this is a rough idea that does not have all the connections to the AC environment, and it would certainly be modified by the developers, but it will hopefully serve to give an idea of what is missing when working with clouds in AC.

I know there is BIMmTool, but it is only a third-party plugin, which, moreover, in the Lite version, is not useful for professional work.

Copy / Paste to active Design Option

When I'm copying elements between files/design options, I want the ability to select "copy to active Design Option."

When I'm copying from project A to project B and those elements are on a Design Option that doesn't exist in project B, project B creates the missing Design Option—and keeps it hidden.

I want the option to create the design option AND show it, create the design option AND keep it hidden, OR paste elements to the active Design Option.

BIMx: Bookmarks or Issue creating in VR-Mode

Hello,
I would like to use VR mode as a tool for review and quality assurance. I believe it is not only a good presentation tool for clients, but also a great opportunity to enhance the quality of our designs before construction begins. Therefore, it would be helpful to add issues or at least to create bookmarks of the views where design errors or shortcomings occur—directly within VR mode.
Currently, it is only possible to open existing bookmarks in VR mode. The touch button on the VR goggles provides a camera-like experience. It could serve as an intuitive way to take snapshots—creating bookmarks, issues, or similar notes.

Hide hotlink master layer button in Quick Layers

As the subject says...

Move Master Layout Single Color Option to On-Screen View Options

Not a high priority item, rather one of those annoying little bits.

Currently you can choose to show the elements originating from the Master Layout as a chosen single color in the Work Environment / On-Screen Options. Now if you have a title bar with colors, or you just simply want to see a realistic preview of your sheet design, you might want to go back and forth with this option. This really belongs to View/On-Screen View Options, not hidden in Work Environment with no direct command option. Some people may even want to add a keyboard shortcut for quick and easy switching. Thanks!

Preview of files when placing from BIMCloud

Show preview (by pressing space as Mac native behaviour) when seeing list of files to be chosen from when placing from BIMCloud (eg preview pdf or jpg when placing as drawing)

Pause Auto Update for all layouts

We need a simple button that deactivates auto update of views on all layouts.

When working on many layouts right before a deadline, auto update of views is a complete time thief.

Having everything on manual update is nice, but I think many would prefer to have things on auto update and then be able to enable / disable it "globally".

Flashing taskbar icon for Teamwork notifications/requests (Windows)

It would be nice to have Archicad icon flashing on the Windows Taskbar when you get a Teamwork notification.

When working on several Archicad files or switching between different programs, often on several computer screens, it is easy to miss Teamwork requests. So it would be nice to have an extra "notification" that you see also when not actively in the TW file where you get a request.

Dark Mode - Include to Change Background and Grids

With the official introduction of Dark Mode on macOS it would be great if the grids and backgrounds could be linked to this too so a colour for both can be chosen and change the background and grid (where the grid is actually turned on) to also change to the selected colours.

Account log out everywhere

This wish is actually tied to Graphisoft ID, not a specific product.

It should be possible to log out of all sessions (products, websites) with a single click, so the next attempt to use software or website would actually prompt the user with the log in page.

Use cases:

  • With your credentials, you access your software, your account page on the website, or forums even, on a machine which is not yours, and forget to log out after using it. You no longer have access to that machine. A bad actor can do whatever he wants with your license and your data.
  • Your machine gets stolen.

I know you can release the license from anywhere, but if ArchiCAD is logged into your account, it will simply re-acquire license if it is marked as portable and there is no way of stopping it, short of removing license from the account or changing the license to not be portable. I know that for a fact because I've been using my license on three machines, not at the same time of course, two of which are my own, but the third is in a firm I work for as an outside consultant. It should be possible for me to log out remotely from everywhere if anything goes sideways.

Archicad Studio UI should support multiple languages, regardless of the country where you are

Before switching to Archicad Studio I was able to use the international English version of Archicad here in Brazil. Apparently the new cloud license only allows me to use the Brazilian Portuguese version. For me, this is a major setback. As an old customer (40+ years of experiencie with CAD, 3D and BIM software), I got used to  English as my working laguage on the computer, as there were no software translations available in the past. I find it particularly annoying to switch languages when using multiple programs at the same time. Not every software has a Portuguese version. My work consists of converting CAD (AutoCAD) and BIM (Archicad, Revit) models created by my clients to FBX or OBJ for further use in advanced 3D visualization and simulation software. I use the converted geometry in 3ds Max and Unreal Engine to create immersive simulations of the proposed buildings. Graphisoft should urgently reconsider this policy, as other companies such as Adobe, Autodesk, McNeel, Trimble, etc. allow you to use their software in any language, regardless of the country where you work.

Add text to beginning of selection of layer names

When bringing in content from other files we need to rename layers with a preceding standard layer code - would be useful to be able to select layers and add a text string to the front of the layer name eg G_OS_

AI Assistant - Label References with meaningful name

In AI Assistant the list of references are just page numbers, often with not the most relevant first.  Change so that at least the document name appears in the source name link and ideally in relevance order, most relevant first

Dark Mode

Can't post to Beta forum any more... but Dark Mode is still not working... one of those "forever experimental features"? Dropdown menus and search functions highlight items in a way that any items not meeting search criteria blank out (color seems to be depending on w/e settings)

Show materials & intersection priority sources of alteration to selected object in dynamic feedback

When selecting an object that has been involved in SEO, there is a small useful dynamic feedback icon allowing the user to trace exactly what interactions the object is involved in.

Because interaction by means other than SEO can also cause unexpected alterations to object shapes, those things should also be listed when the icon is clicked, to help with model troubleshooting.

For example, the trimmed off portion of a wall may not be visible, but that trimmed off portion can still cut chunks our of things with lower materials priority.  Objects on hidden layers (even on other stories) but with the same intersection priority can cause weird unintended 'clean up effects', etc.

When an interacting item in the list is selected, a ghost representation of that object should appear, to help with identification and location, even if not otherwise visible in the current view.  In fact, this behavior should apply to objects involved in SEO interactions as well.

Where there are many interacting objects in the list, it may even be helpful to allow the user to toggle individual ghosts on and off, so that an exact visual match for the shape of the unexpected distortion can be found - which is easier with less visual clutter from displaying the outlines of too many other objects at a time

In particular

  • Materials priority interaction with other elements
  • Intersection priority interaction with other elements in currently displayed layer combination
  • Openings (these can sometimes do seemingly weird things when the opening's nodes are not in view)

This feature could save many wasted troubleshooting hours.  It could be toggled on or off if there is a performance impact.
